DFS Madness’s Strategy for Winning NBA Tiers Lineups for Draftkings – Mar. 18th, 2019

Welcome to the DFS Army Draftkings Tiers breakdown! The Tiers breakdown will consist of a breakdown of all six tiers on Draftkings and why you should or shouldn’t play some of these guys! My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the article and just because I like to think I’m a great Twitter follow (high hopes). But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

Tier One:

Tier one is a two-man tier today with Russell Westbrook suspended for tonight’s game. As we can see, the Domination Station likes Paul George the most in this tier, projecting him for about eight more points than Steph Curry. With Westbrook off the court this season George sees a 4% usage bump, putting him at 33.7%. However, he doesn’t see a huge point per minute increase (0.07). Of the two I would probably prefer Paul George because of the safety, but I’m not going all in on him because Curry is in a good spot as well. I’ve been targeting point guards against the Spurs all year, so why stop now? In an earlier matchup against the Spurs, Curry scored 41.8 fantasy points. It’s hard to go wrong in this tier, I like both plays, but whatever you do, don’t play Russell Westbrook!

The NBA Research Stationis my #1 source for research every single day and is one of the VIP Only tools our members have access to daily. The info in the NBA ReSearch Station includes today’s 📊 DFS Army Projection, Adjusted DVP matchups and much more. This tool will cut your daily research time in half. If you’re familiar with CeeGee and Ben you already know the time they’ve put into the “Sheets” and are extremely happy to provide them as apart of your DFS Army VIP Membership this year.

Tier Two:

Right now I’ll operate under the assumption that Luka Doncic will play, but keep an eye on the Breaking News Feed for updates. If he does play, he draws the best matchup in this tier. The Pelicans rank 25th in defense against opposing point guards. Devin Booker has scored 67 Draftkings points in two of his last four games, he’ll look to stay hot against a bad Bulls team, I like him in this spot. Damian Lillard draws the toughest matchup in this tier and only scored 21.8 Draftkings points in this matchup earlier this season. Kyrie Irving scored 53.8 Draftkings points in his earlier matchup against the Nuggets. One thing I’m really excited about tonight is some Kyrie revenge. No, he never played for the Nuggets, but he has some bad blood with Jamal Murray, as Murray tried going for 50 while blowing out the Celtics earlier this season. Irving says he “hasn’t forgotten” about the situation, so I actually like him here. Nikola Jokic is always a threat to opposing defenses, I don’t love him, but I don’t hate him in this spot.

Tier Three:

Kawhi Leonard won’t play in tonight’s game, so make sure to get him out of your lineups. Julius Randle draws the best matchup against the Mavericks. Dallas ranks 22nd in defense against opposing power forwards on the season. Randle has played the Mavs three times this year and is averaging 42.8 Draftkings points per game. LaMarcus Aldridge destroyed the Warriors earlier this season, scoring 55.5 Draftkings points. He’s a very solid play in this tier, they’ll need him to keep this game close tonight. Elfrid Payton may be the hottest player in the league right now, he’s had four straight triple-doubles leading to four straight 50+ fantasy point games. He may be my favorite play in this tier, the Mavs are awful against point guards, look for Payton to extend this streak tonight. Klay Thompson is in play here as well, he sees a small usage increase with Cousins and Iguodala off the floor.

Tier Four:

Pascal Siakam is my favorite play in this tier. He draws the best matchup of this group, as the Knicks rank 29th in defense against opposing power forwards. Not only that, but Kawhi Leonard is out tonight, meaning mall ball-handling duties and scoring opportunities against this week defense. Jusuf Nurkic draws a great matchup as well, the Pacers rank 26th in defense against opposing centers on the season. Anthony Davis won’t see more than 22 minutes in tonight’s game but feels like a lock for 35-40 Draftkings points. The Spurs will need DeMar DeRozan to keep them in this game tonight, I expect DeRozan to have a pretty solid game. He scored 40 Draftkings points in an earlier matchup against them. Zach LaVine has been playing great basketball, he gets a very nice matchup against the Suns, putting himself into consideration here. Lauri Markkanen is playing awful basketball right now, I’m going to wait for him to find it again before I play him here.

Tier Five:

Paul Millsap draws the best matchup in this tier against the Celtics. Boston ranks 27th in defense against opposing power forwards. The Chicago and Phoenix game should be pretty high scoring and ability to stay close, making it nice for fantasy. DeAndre Ayton, Kelly Oubre, and Otto Porter are all in play here. My favorite of the bunch being Kelly Oubre who has been playing great basketball as of late. Dwight Powell has cooled off a little bit since his recent tear, but he’s in play given the weak Pelicans frontcourt. I don’t see a need to go with Myles Turner or Al Horford here, they both draw tough assignments. Draymond Green always has triple-double upside and may have to play some center minutes with Cousins out tonight. He’s in play for both cash and GPP tonight.

Tier Six:

I like the idea of stacking up Jamal Murray with Kyrie Irving and hoping those two just go at it all game long. He scored 60.25 Draftkings points in their earlier matchup. Bojan Bogdanovic draws the best matchup in this tier, as the Trail Blazers rank 23rd in defense against opposing small forwards. Jalen Brunson has been playing some surprisingly good basketball and is in play here, and even better if Doncic gets ruled out. Marc Gasol will likely see some extra minutes with Kawhi out tonight, and with a good matchup against the Knicks, he’s certainly in play. I’m not a huge fan of Darren Collison or Jason Tatum here, they both draw tough matchups. Josh Richardson and Robin Lopez are playable as high floor guys in the final tier of the slate.
