DFS College Basketball March Madness Notes For Draftkings and Fanduel 3/28/2019

Good morning/afternoon to you beautiful people out there in DFS land!  You have managed to find yourself in a great spot here at DFS Army.  I look forward to providing you with analysis and picks throughout this 2019 Tournament Season!  Remember, if I mention a player as a cash game play they most likely are OK for GPP play.  Let’s take a look at what games are on the slate for DraftKings.  The KenPom score projections are in parenthesis.

Florida St (72) vs Gonzaga (79)
Purdue (75) vs Tennessee (74)
Texas Tech (61) vs Michigan (62)
Oregon (54) vs Virginia (64)

College basketball hasn’t been back that long, and we have the coaches teaching!  Save yourself time and energy by letting us do the work.  And, if you want to see a real track record of success, stop by our Wall of Wins page to see what we’ve done in NFL, NBA, and MLB recently.  We aren’t one-trick-ponies at DFS Army, and we are dedicated to sharing our knowledge with you to help you improve your game.

FLORIDA ST vs GONZAGA

This is the game that should garner the most ownership on this slate.  I am very intrigued by this game from a match-up perspective.  Each team offers a couple of bigs that can be match-up nightmares.  For the Seminoles, I am all about Mann with some interest in Kabengele, Gray, and Vassell as a dart play.  I worry about Gray having trouble sticking with guys like Hachimura or Clarke and we are not sure what Vassell’s status is as he left last game after tweaking something.

For Gonzaga, I want exposure to both Hachimura and Clarke first.  I really believe one of them is going to cause issues for FSU.  Norvell and Perkins are interesting because of how FSU allows guards to pop shots up off of the pick N roll.  I am really tempted to ride Tillie as I think he is the X-factor for them.  If Gonzaga puts Tillie-Clarke in a pick N roll spot, what is FSU going to do?  If they give Tillie, who is 6’10, room, he is going to fire away.

Preferred Plays:  Mann, Gray, Hachimura, Clarke, Tillie

PURDUE vs TENNESSEE

Purdue is all about Edwards and Cline for me.  Edwards looks like a motivated, healthy, star through 2 games so far.  Edwards is looking like my favorite top tier option on this slate.  Haarms will garner ownership and I understand it for GPP purposes but I am afraid of foul troubles.  Eifert and Eastern can be used but I am not excited about rostering either of them.

Grant Williams is an excellent GPP spend up option but I would prefer to look elsewhere in your cash lineups at the top tier.  Turner is still too cheap and is somebody I am basically locking in.  My second favorite option is Bone now that he has gotten a price decrease.  Alexander and Bowden are GPP dart options as Alexander could be a sneaky one with him having to deal with Haarms.  I am not sure what to do with Schofield, he has the upside but I just find myself looking elsewhere around his price point.

Preferred Plays:  Edwards, Cline, Turner, Bone

TEXAS TECH vs MICHIGAN

Culver is somebody we have been riding as a cash play but slides into the GPP category in this one.  He is very close to a cash play as he should have success when he slides to the 4-spot when TT goes smaller.  The only other guy that interests me for TT is Owens as we have been using bigs against Michigan for a while now.  Owens has an elite block rate which is something that can be effective against the Wolverines.

I know Michigan is expected to win this game but I do not have confidence in much from their end.  I have a feeling that Matthews continues his solid play and Simpson probably ends up the highest scoring member of Michigan.  Livers could be used as a GPP dart while Teske still makes sense as a cash play but I think he has a tough enough match-up that I will look elsewhere.  I am not sure what to do with Brazdeikis in this one as he may start out with a solid match-up but then should have to deal with Culver some as well, which is far from ideal.

Preferred Plays:  Culver, Owens, Matthews, Simpson

OREGON vs VIRGINIA

This Oregon team is really tough to figure out.  They are not an elite team but they continue to surprise.  Pritchard has a tough match-up but we can’t ignore what he has been doing.  King can be used as a GPP play while White is somebody I will have zero exposure to.  Wooten interests me for GPP purposes but I just can’t trust him for cash games.  If Amin is going to see 20+ minutes we have to consider him but I find myself looking elsewhere.

In this game, we have two elite 3-point shooting defenses which make things really tough.  Both teams like to get shots up from the outside so it’s about which team can make 3’s or which one attacks the rim more.  With Oregon being able to neutralize some of Virginia’s strengths, I would look at guys like Hunter and Diakite in this one.  Guys like Clark and Key could be used as GPP fill-ins for value but I can’t trust either of them.  I can certainly see either Jerome or Guy coming through but I have a hard time trusting either one.

Preferred Plays:  Pritchard, Wooten, Hunter, Diakite
