DFS College Basketball Game Notes For Draftkings Day Slate 3/15/2019

Good morning to you beautiful people out there in DFS land!  You have managed to find yourself in a great spot here at DFS Army.  I look forward to providing you with analysis and picks throughout this 2018-2019 CBB season!  Remember, if I mention a player as a cash game play they most likely are OK for GPP play.  Let’s take a look at what games are on the slate for DraftKings and Fanduel.  The KenPom score projections are in parenthesis.

UCONN (66) vs Houston (76)
Ohio St (63) vs Michigan St (74)
Florida (67) vs LSU (70)
Memphis (73) vs UCF (74)
Nebraska (60) vs Wisconsin (66)
Auburn (80) vs South Carolina (71)

College basketball hasn’t been back that long, and we have the coaches teaching!  Save yourself time and energy by letting us do the work.  And, if you want to see a real track record of success, stop by our Wall of Wins page to see what we’ve done in NFL, NBA, and MLB recently.  We aren’t one-trick-ponies at DFS Army, and we are dedicated to sharing our knowledge with you to help you improve your game.

UCONN vs HOUSTON

Jalen Adams has looked like he never missed a game in his return from injury.  He has gone for 72.25 DK points in the two games he has been back for.  This match-up is less than ideal as Houston has one of the top overall defenses in the nation.  I think Carlton is a spot we can go back to for GPP purposes as I do not fear the interior of Houston.  I like Vital and Polley as 3-point shooters in this spot as Adams does a lot of driving and is capable of being a very good distributor.

For Houston, it is all about the guard position as the forwards are pretty weak and very foul prone.  Guys like Davis and Brooks are very strong plays in all formats while Jarreau and Hinton are interesting GPP options.  Jarreau is probably my preferred play because of his ability to get to the rim and draw fouls.

Preferred Plays:  Adams, Carlton, Jarreau, Hinton

OHIO ST vs MICHIGAN ST

Ohio St has a few guys playing extremely well right now so we have to consider them for GPPs but I worry about this match-up ending up being a blowout.  I was definitely right about K.Wesson coming out motivated so I look for him to continue that, even in a difficult match-up.  The other two guys that are playing extremely well are Jackson and Woods.  That duo has combined for 131 fantasy points over the last two games.  I can’t recommend any of them for your cash lineups but they make a ton of sense for GPPs.

I want to get exposure to a Michigan St team that could end up being the highest scoring team on the slate.  The problem is Ward is expected to return and that muddies the interior a bit.  We will have to find out if there is going to be a minutes restriction for him or if he is going to come off the bench and allow Goins and Tillman to continue to start.  I think that Winston is a safe cash game option but might prefer to spend up in other spots for my GPP lineups.  I have GPP interest in McQuaid and Henry.  McQuaid has the ability to get hot while Henry is playing pretty solidly and offers us some salary savings.

Preferred Plays:  K.Wesson, Tillman, Henry

FLORIDA vs LSU

Florida gets a solid pace bump against a team that they managed to take to OT twice during the regular season.  I have an interest in three guys from Florida.  Those guys are Hayes, Johnson, and Hudson.  Hudson played really well against LSU while the other two guys are in excellent spots as we have used post players against LSU this year.  All three guys have had pretty strong games against the Tigers and seem to fit in the projected game script perfectly.

We need to play the wait and see game with LSU as a couple of important pieces have statuses that are up in the air.  Reid is dealing with an injury and Smart is involved in the wire-tap drama that has surrounded CBB.  If both of those guys end up sitting this one out, Waters becomes a very strong cash game play for the Tigers.  Guys like Mays, E.Williams, Bigby-Williams, and Taylor become very strong GPP plays with a guy like E.Williams becoming very strong in cash games as well.  If both of those guys end up playing, I want exposure to both of them for GPP purposes and it would downgrade everybody else slightly.

Preferred Plays:  Johnson, Hudson, Waters, E.Williams (If Reid is out)

MEMPHIS vs UCF

Memphis is in a tough spot as this game is a huge pace down for them.  With that being said, I think guys like Martin, Thornton, and even Brewton Jr are in play for GPPs.  Martin has been on an insane run, showing immense upside no matter what his price is.  I would consider using Parks Jr as a deep GPP dart play due to his upside.  If you do use him, just remember he has a single-digit floor.

UCF is getting a pace up in this game which raises my intrigue in the guards.  I think that Taylor is in an excellent spot with Dawkins and Allen being strong GPP plays.  I am going to fade Fall even though he makes sense as a low-owned, GPP play.  Somebody like Smith is an interesting GPP play but he commits a TON of fouls.

Preferred Plays:  Martin, Thornton, Taylor

NEBRASKA vs WISCONSIN

Nebraska is going to be playing their third game in three days with a short-handed squad.  That makes this a worrisome spot for a Nebraska team that could get blown out in the second half.  On the season we have avoided guards against Wisconsin and instead of focused on attacking them on the interior.  With that being said, Roby makes excellent sense in this spot as a GPP play with some cash game possibilities.  Guys like Palmer Jr and Watson Jr are going to garner ownership and while it makes sense to me for GPPs (short-handed, high usage rates), I just do not know if I can trust them at their price points.  If Borchardt avoids foul trouble, a BIG if, I would have interest in him.  Nebraska has the two popular punt plays in Trueblood and Thorbjarnarson.  I prefer Trueblood as his minutes over the last three games has been more consistent, as has his fantasy points.

Nebraska somehow just limited Maryland’s interior duo of Fernando and Smith, which came out of nowhere.  I still want to attack them on the interior so that means Happ might be the top option on this slate.  Davison broke out of his shooting slump in the previous game so he carries some GPP upside for me.  I love seeing Iverson be more aggressive on offense which has led to a couple of monster games recently.  This is a spot where I like his upside going against a potentially exhausted team.

Preferred Plays:  Roby, Trueblood, Happ, Iverson

AUBURN vs SOUTH CAROLINA

This is the game that is going to be targeted by a ton of people as Auburn is projected to be the highest scoring team on the slate.  I really like Okeke in this spot and think it could become a battle of the big men.  Both Harper and Brown make sense for all formats, with Harper being a slightly better cash play and Brown being the better GPP play.  Spencer is coming off of a monster game and will garner ownership at his price tag and while I think he is in play for GPPs, I am worried about chasing that score.

The big news for South Carolina is whether Lawson plays or not.  The last I read was that he was expected to play but won’t start.  We need to pay attention to any updates so we know what kind of a role he will play.  If he is deemed to be 100% good to go, I want some GPP exposure.  I most likely will end up with zero exposure because of it being the last game of the slate.  I want to have a ton of exposure to Silva, Gravett, and Bryant.  Silva is probably my top play on the slate as he is much cheaper than Happ is.  Gravett would lose some appeal with the return of Lawson but I prefer him over CampbellBryant has been one of my favorite plays for a couple of weeks and he is still too cheap.

Preferred Plays:  Okeke, Brown, Silva, Bryant
