Flynnie’s Forecheck – NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 2/15/19

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 10% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack up the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 4-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men and goalies in order of my preference.

FORWARDS

MIN 1 – Coyle, Parise, Granlund: I think this line will be very chalky but all three are wingers on FD so if you run all three you will be forced to make your lineup a little different. I think most will take two of these guys and run it with either Spurgeon or Suter. MIN has the highest ITT and highest money line on the slate so they won’t be sneaky.

NYR 1 – Zibanejad, Zuccarello, Kreider: Highest scoring line over the last ten games and they have tucked three over the last three games. BUF is favored by a decent margin in this game and these guys may go a little over looked.

EDM 1 – McDavid, Draisaitl, Kassian: This line is heating up with three goals in the last three games and a likely matchup with the Aho line from Carolina. With them being such big under dogs I can see a lot of people skipping over McJesus tonight. Always stack him with Draisaitl. If they are on the same line they assist on each other’s goals almost every time.

Honorable Mention: BUF 1, CAR 1, BOS 1, BUF 2 (Rodrigues is sneaky), MIN 3 (hot and could give you a low owned stack on a chalky team), NJ PP1 (Bratt/Johansson are hot and MIN sucks on the PK)

DEFENSE

Spurgeon: His pace is not sustainable, but he should keep it going against a bad NJ team. Don’t expect another 35 point game though! Use Suter if you want to correlate the PP1, I think Spurgeon has the higher ceiling in this match-up, but also the lower floor of the two.

McAvoy: He has showed a very good floor recently and might go a bit overlooked with the other D options on the slate. Don’t go crazy here though, I don’t expect much scoring in this game.

Ristolainen: I think he is the most cash-safe defenseman on this slate and makes a great complimentary piece to BUF 1 or PP 1

Honorable Mentions: Klefbom, Hamilton, Larsson, Krug, Russell, Pionk

Our long-time VIP Joker Wins took down a GPP and had two other top-10 finishes

GOALIES

Halak: 1-1-2/2.31/0.922 over the last month.Big favorite, but he has been inconsistent at best recently. ANA is struggling to score and they needed a shutout from Boyle the other night to pick up a win. I din’t expect many goals in this game so he is in play but will likely carry a lot of ownership.

Georgiev: 2-1-0/1.64/0.952. Great GPP option. He’s a road underdog but he is the hottest goalie on the slate. I’m not sure I’m going to get there but I’m looking for reasons to play Rangers right now.

Dubnyk: 4-4-1/2.33/0.911 CHALK CITY If you are playing a lot of cash, use him but I think he can be faded in hybrid and GPP formats. I won’t argue with anyone using him though

Honorable Mention: Koskinen (YOLO), McElhinney (I don’t think many realize how good this guy is)

GOAL PREDICTION: Jack Eichel

Remember guys, always confirm the starters after morning skate.
