DraftKings MLB ST Monday 2/25 Slates

Like any two-game slate, these will have some volatility. Fortunately, salaries are equally cheap across the board, so we don’t pay a premium for starters who could be limited to two at-bats. With any new type of contest on DraftKings, there’s an edge to gain early. For these games, it likely just comes from making fewer mistakes than the field. Playing non-starters is not going to be +EV when we already have some great prospects starting who should have low ownership. Also, not all of the starters on the mound will throw two full innings.

Here are all four lineups for the early games:

For starters, Patrick Corbin gets to face at least two lefties in the first inning against the Braves. Verlander also has a nice setup against some very strikeout prone bats like Broxton.

Top Arms: Corbin, Verlander

Secondary Options: Fried, Thor (likely throws one inning)

As far as relievers go, the best case scenario we can get is two innings like a starter. There is no advantage to pivot here for lower K% arms facing unpredictable matchups. Go with Corbin/JV in a majority of entries. The top stack on this slate is the Nationals young 5-tool talent against Fried. Robles, Soto, and Carter Kieboom will be part of my core plays today, with the priority placed on Robles and Kieboom who should both see three at-bats.

On the Braves side, I think Acuna/Albies will be over-owned, but I won’t tell you to fade them when only one at-bat should be against Corbin. Don’t be afraid to use 1-2 hitters against your starter in any single game today. Across the board exposure is a solid strategy on a small slate, but if you get into 3 and 4-man stacks I would focus on the Nationals then the Astros. My favorite one-off from the Braves is powerful 3B Austin Riley. With Donaldson still getting ready to play, and Camargo/Culberson in today’s lineup there isn’t anyone who will take Riley off the field early. Plus, Riley won’t even face Corbin if he has an efficient outing. As far as hyper tooled prospects go, the Braves have two on their bench. Cristian Pache and Drew Waters both possess slate breaking speed and power potential, but it’s uncertain as to who will get to play more center today, or if they will split it after Inciarte gets pulled. My guess is Pache since he had the day off yesterday, but they are actively trying to get switch-hitting Waters at-bats from both sides of the plate. I will have some exposure to both. At 1B, Freeman is always still in play against lefties, but I prefer Tyler White at lower ownership.

One positive trend for the Astros is they have been willing early to let all of the starters get three at-bats. However, they played with a split squad yesterday and didn’t have a real need to get subs in either, so take that at face value. Still, the Astros top of the order is a safe stack that will likely be popular, but very much in play considering that Thor is probably only throwing one inning. A majority of my lineups will pair my catcher with my stack. Chirinos and Gomes are the top options today. I will not have much exposure to the Mets today, but a McNeil/Conforto stack is in play.

Top Stack: Nationals Young Talent (Robles, Soto, Carter Kieboom)

#2 Stack: Astros TOTO (Top Of The Order)
