Flynnie’s Forecheck – NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 1/15/19

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 20% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack up the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 10-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men and goalies in order of my preference.

FORWARDS

TB 2 – Kucherov, Johnson, Point – These guys have 10 goals over their last 10 games. They are the hottest line on the team with the highest ITT tonight. Kucherov is my favorite forward tonight and Point is in a great spot too. If you check out Beat the Bookie you will see some key stats about how these teams match up.

NSH 1 – Forsberg, Arvidsson, Johansen – This line is heating up, and targeting the Ovechkin line is always overlooked. Forsberg always plays well against his former team. Arvidsson is also cash viable, I would keep Johansen for GPP only

CBJ 1 – Atkinson, Panarin, Dubois – These guys have 10 goals in the last 10 games and four in the last three. Panarin is my favorite in this line. This line will likely be the highest owned on the night, but it’s a 10-game slate, so I don’t see it getting over 20% in GPP’s

Honorable Mention: CAR 1, SJ3, PIT 1, NJ 2, LAK 1, MTL 1, MTL 3, DET 1, VGK 2

DEFENSE

Burns: As always he has the highest floor and highest ceiling on the slate. But his price with the other studs tonight will make it tough to afford him. If enough value opens up, he will be a must. This game scares me for DFS because it’s two hot offenses going against two hot goalies. This will be a better real life game than fantasy game.

Ekholm: Must higher floor and ceiling than Josi (who is also in a great spot), but for a lot cheaper. He has 55 BSSOG over the last ten games and is averaging 21.7 fantasy points over that time. He is a production pivot off Letang, but for cheaper.

Muzzin: Minnesota is struggling lately and Muzzin has showed a solid floor lately on a team that I expect will be owned in the single digits.

Honorable Mentions: Faulk, Spurgeon, Klingberg, Morrissey, Petry, Pulock, Martinez, Slavin

Our long-time VIP Joker Wins took down a GPP and had two other top-10 finishes

GOALIES

Korpisalo – 3-0-0/1.85/0.935 over the last three weeks. I expect him to be chalky tonight going against a Devils team that scored 8 goals last night and is now on a back to back with Kinkaid likely starting. Kinkaid has been awful lately, so I expect Korpi to get the win here.

Murray – He is our highest projected goalie tonight. I think this game goes lower scoring and my gut says the winning goalie in this game breaks the slate. Both offenses are hot, so the shot volume for both goalies should be there.

Lehner – 6-1-0/1.67/0.944 over the last three weeks playing at home against the Blues who are in the middle of a three game in four day window. STL can score at a decent clip but they are in the top 10 over the last three weeks in SOG, so Lehner will face shot volume.

Honorable Mention: Saros, Jones, Brossoit, Fleury

GOAL PREDICTION: Nikita Kucherov
