Flynnie’s Forecheck – NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 1/7/19

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 10% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack up the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 5-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men and goalies in order of my preference.

FORWARDS

MIN 2 – Coyle, Parise, Kunin – This is the hottest line over the last three games with four goals scored. Parise is scorching hot, Coyle isn’t too far behind him and Kunin makes a solid punt option.

STL 2 – Perron, O’Reilly, Steen – Perron and O’Reilly are cash viable. This line has six goals in the last 10 games and Philly is a dumpster fire. This is a great line to target tonight and I think they go overlooked with the SJ, CGY, TOR chalk.

SJ 3 – Kane, Donskoi, Hertl – This is the Sharks hottest line and I think they go a bit over looked with the masses loading up on the top 2 lines. Kane and Burns make a solid cash pairing as well.

Honorable Mention: CGY 1/PP1 (if you want Tkachuk exposure too), NSH 1, TOR 2 (TOR 1 also in play), CHI 1

We crush all sports, pro or college

DEFENSE

Burns – Crazy expensive, just play him anyway! He has the highest floor and ceiling of any D on this slate and he is on fire. You’ll find other value, I promise.

Spurgeon – I’m a big fan of MIN tonight and Spurgeon has stepped right into that Matt Dumba role

Giordano – CGY is so hot right now and Gio is right there with Tkachuk and Johnny Hockey has some of the hottest skaters in the league.

Honorable Mentions: Ekholm, Parayko, Pietrangelo, Petry, Doughty, Rielly

Our long-time VIP Joker Wins took down a GPP and had two other top-10 finishes

GOALIES

Goalie is not a lot of fun for cash games tonight. I don’t have a ton of faith in any of them.

Dubnyk – Mediocre peripherals over the last three weeks but he does have a very good history against MTL and he is our highest projected goalie tonight. Minnesota plays very good defense and will slow MTL and limit the shots Dubnyk will face.

Jones: He hasn’t played well lately but his team is. The win here is pretty safe (esp on slate where I don’t trust any goalies in cash). LAK is not shooting, they are not scoring but somehow they have been winning.

Binnington – He has very little experience but he does have the honor of going against everyone’s favorite dumpster fire – the Philadelphia Flyers. And he is only $7000 on FanDuel. He will be chalky at that price but I’m willing to pay down at goalie to pay up for more security in the skaters.

Honorable Mention: Delia (MME only), Rittich, Hutchinson (chalk), Dubnyk (I like his spot, not his price), Price (GPP only)

GOAL PREDICTION: Zach Parise

Remember guys, always confirm the starters after morning skate.
