Flynnie’s Forecheck – NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 1/5/18

Happy New Year, degens!! For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 10% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack up the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 7-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men and goalies in order of my preference.

FORWARDS

TB 2 – Kucherov, Point, Johnson – This is the best line in the best game tonight – it also makes a great late night hammer stack. San Jose’s second and third lines have given up ten goals over the last three games…TEN!!! Kuch and company are match-up proof anyway, and this match-up is too good to pass up. You will need pieces from this game in all formats.

CBJ 1 – Atkinson, DuBois, Panarin – Still the hottest line in the league, scoring 11 goals in their last ten and four over the last three games. The rest of the Jackets team is struggling to score so still to this line or a couple defensemen.

NYI 2 – Barzal, Beauvillier, Bailey – Matt Barzal is on another planet right now, he is already locked into my cash lineup. STL does not give up a lot of shots, but they have been giving up a ton of goals over the last three weeks. I think these guys go over looked and there is value all over the top 2 lines and top 2 D pairings.

Honorable Mention: BOS 1, NSH 1, TOR 1/2 (talented, pricey, high ITT, but VAN is solid defensively – don’t go crazy),  SJ 3, MTL 2, LAK 1, STL 2, BUF 1 (looks good, but only if Eichel plays and I’m pretty sure he’s out)

We crush all sports, pro or college

DEFENSE

Burns – He is expensive as always but he is on an unbelievable tear right now. TB is going to allow some points tonight in what I think will be the highest scoring game on the slate – I’m not alone in thinking that.

Leddy – Could go overlooked as a salary saver tonight and he will be involved in the NYI offense. Maybe pair him with NYI 1 for a lot of cheaper scoring (Barzal will be popular but I don’t think his linemates will be)

Edler – He’s the safest defenseman virtually every night with upside for 30 FD points.

Honorable Mentions: Hedman, Pulock, Ekholm, Doughty, Karlsson (pivot off chalkier Burns), Muzzin, Nurse. Krug (great spot but trending down over his last 5 games)

Our long-time VIP Joker Wins took down a GPP and had two other top-10 finishes

GOALIES

Lehner – My number 1 is a road dog tonight. I’m okay with it though. The Islanders are rolling and Lehner has only given up 5 goals in his last six games. He is 5-0-0/0.89/0.970 over that span. I have no faith in STL’s ability to score and NYI is playing very good defense lately as well. Something is fishy with this line…NYI should be favored by a bunch. Check with Beat the Bookie on that one.

Price – 4-2-0/2.00/0.931 over the last three weeks and coming off a shutout of the Canucks two nights ago. That will certainly add to his popularity tonight, but NSH is not scoring much but they are putting a ton of pucks on net.

Rask – 2-2-0/3.01/0.907 over the last three weeks. He is a big money line favorite and coming off a nice win in the Winter Classic. His numbers aren’t great but he is playing at home against Buffalo without Jack Eichel

Honorable Mention: Hutchinson (chalk), Koskinen, Campbell

GOAL PREDICTION: Brent Burns
