Flynnie’s Forecheck – NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 12/6/18

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 10% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack up the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 11-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men and goalies in order of my preference.

FORWARDS

CGY 1 – Lindholm, Gaudreau, Monahan – The hottest line in the league right now with 11 goals in their last 10 games and five in the last three games. Minnesota is good defensively but nothing that I would be too scared of. Lindholm is the cheapest of the bunch and I think he makes a good cash play tonight because he also offers a solid BSSOG floor. But all three are viable in all formats.

CBJ 1 – Panarin, Atkinson, Dubois – A little less scorching hot than CGY 1 but in a better spot, tonight. This line has 11 goals in the last 10 and four goals in the last three. HOWEVER, PHI’s top 2 lines have given up a total of nine goals in the last three games….NINE GOALS!!! It doesn’t matter which line matches up with this line I think Cam Atkinson is a lock and load in all formats and the other two are stackable with him. I would keep Panarin to GPP only because he has been so up and down lately.

MTL PP1 – Domi, Gallagher, Drouin – OTT plays absolutely no defense and MTL is projected to score 3.4 goals tonight. This group crosses both of the top two lines and also as a punt you can throw in Kotkaniemi who is close to min salary on FD and centers this top PP unit.

Honorable Mention: TOR 1/2 (pick any group that correlates as long as Matthews is a part of it), PIT PP1, FLA 1, TB2, VGK 2, DET 1, PHI 1, LAK 1, COL 1, CHI 2

DEFENSE

Moore – I don’t like the Bruins to win at all tonight, but John Moore has shown a terrific floor lately for min salary. He has 30 BSSOG over the last 5 games and 44 over the last 10. He offers a great floor on a night you are going to need salary relief with all the studs on the slate.

Rielly – He will not provide salary relief but he is going to involved in the scoring on a team implied to score 3.9 goals. He has 23 BSSOG over the last 5 games but offers a ceiling that very few defensemen have.

Jones – He has 5 points and 24 BSSOG over his last five games and in my opinion makes a great cash/hybrid stack with Atkinson.

Honorable Mentions: Josi, Schlemko, Spurgeon, Giordano, Edler, Yandle

Our long-time VIP Joker Wins took down a GPP and had two other top-10 finishes

GOALIES

Hill – He has been very good over his short tenure in the NHL. He worries me tonight with how lethal WSH is with their limited shots on goal. Arizona has improved greatly on the defensive end. They are top-5 in the league in goals allowed and shots allowed over the last ten games.

Sparks – This keeps changing, he has been confirmed twice and Andersen has been confirmed once and its only noon. I love the idea of a cheap goalie going up against a struggling offense. He will be the runaway chalk if he does start. If he doesn’t Andersen will be chalky but a lot harder to build a good lineup around. Tune in to our Slack channels for updates of the Leafs revolving door at the goalie position – the win is pretty safe either way with the way this team can score.

Quick – 1-2-0/1.69/0.943 stat line over the last three weeks. The wins haven’t been there but he has great peripherals and NJ cannot seem to score but they shoot the puck a ton over that same time. Quick should go overlooked tonight and makes a great GPP play.

Honorable Mention: Fleury, Domingue, DeSmith, Rinne, Price

GOAL PREDICTION: Patric Hornqvist

Remember guys, always confirm the starters after morning skate.
