DabbingPuggle’s NFL DFS “Draw Plays” for Fanduel or Draftkings Week 16

Welcome everyone, to this weeks edition of Draw Plays!! I’m your host DabbingPuggle, bringing you this weeks insights on the best WR/CB match-ups for your GPP’s. A quick note before we dive in. I like to have fun and make money; I plan on doing both things every Sunday for the next few months. If you like fun, jump in my room #puggle-nfl on Sunday morning 10-1. If you like making money, be sure to read all the articles our NFL staff has for you each week. If you don’t like either, take a hike. Get it? Hut Hut Hike… let’s do this Army!!

Tier 1 Draw Plays

DeAndre Hopkins Vs. Rasul Douglas

In the green corner we have the Eagles defensive backs. Rasul Douglas is the best healthy corner on this team and he’s giving up a 73% opposing catch percentage this year. This Philly secondary bent but didn’t break against the Rams last weekend, but with a lack of depth and talent there, I’m putting more of that on a struggling Jared Goff. In the blue corner, we have DeAndre Hopkins, last weeks top receiver and a candidate for a repeat performance here. The last two weeks of the regular season, we need to think about who is in, out, and on the cusp of the postseason. Houston would wrap up the division with a win here, look for them to showcase their best player as they try to lock up their spot.

 Adam Thielen Vs. Nevin Lawson

Thielen! Thielen! Thielen! What are you doing to me guy?!?! You’re making me look bad! I don’t like to look bad, and last week he cost me big, so what do we do? Right back to the guy who burned you. I’m expecting a little ‘hair of the puggle’ to be a cure for this hangover by rostering Thielen again this week. However, there is a little more to the story than meets the eye about last weeks performance, or lack thereof. Minnesota jumped out very early in this one and Cousins barely had to throw. This week should be different and Darius Slay should be busy with Diggs, which leaves us that Nevin Lawson defense in the slot. Talent will ultimately win out, and the slumping Thielen should be able to win this matchup handedly.

Julio Jones vs. James Bradberry

Julio did not practice Wednesday and it is certainly something to keep an eye on. The extent of this hip injury is not quite certain so it will be a situation you’re going to want to monitor. If healthy and active of course, Julio has been on an absolute tear down the stretch this season. Bradberry has been a bright spot for the Panthers and was able to get the best of him in their week 2 matchup. Now after gaining steam, I like this spot for him to get some revenge in what is otherwise a lost season for him and the Falcons. Coach Dan Quinn said that he should be able to give us an idea on Friday if Jones will be able to suit up for this one. If there is a green light, Julio is as tough a matchup as they come and has proven that time and time again this season.

Davante Adams Vs. Morris Claiborne

Lot’s of high priced studs in great matchups this week, but we work with what is given to us right? My job is to try and highlight what I believe to be the best ones. While you could make a case for any of the top 4 to be the top dog, my money is on Adams. His team high 25% target share isn’t just from a lack of options in this Packers passing game, it’s from the consistent production level Adams has given us every single week. We haven’t seen his 100 yard 2 TD ceiling since week 6 against the 49ers, but there are few reasons to believe he can’t do it again here.

With Aaron Jones hitting the shelf they are going to need to rely on the passing game a little bit more. Claiborne got absolutely lambasted by DeAndre Hopkins last week in a similar situation when Houston couldn’t run the ball. I plan on paying up here fairly often this week as all the arrows are pointing toward another quality outing from the reliable receiver.

Tier 2 Draw Plays

Demaryius Thomas Vs. DeVante Bausby

In DFS we like to use the term ‘pivot’. Now pivot can mean two things, to either move off a chalkier play at a similar salary point OR to move to a different play in the same offense. This week I like to pivot to Thomas when not paying for DeAndre Hopkins. The Eagles secondary is enough to warrant targeting anyone squaring off against them, but Thomas comes with some pedigree.

Additionally, with Keke Coutee on the shelf the last 3 weeks, it has allowed Thomas’ targets, receptions and yards increase in each game. He’s becoming more and more comfortable in this offense and a breakthrough game is on the horizon. Even if Coutee manages to suit up for this one, he is likely to have his snap count monitored after only practicing in limited fashion this week. Thomas serves as a great pay-down receiver in a terrific spot on Sunday.

JuJu Smith Schuster Vs. Eli Apple

Man, Juju burnt people last week. Not me, I avoided that one like the plague because there has been a seldom spoken about pattern this season. Yes, a crazy conspiracy! JuJu on the road, and Antonio Brown at home. Sure there have been a couple of exceptions, but following this patten has worked out pretty well for me this year, and I’m not about to stop now in a plus individual matchup on the road against Eli Apple. JuJu’s targets are just there every single week and he should have no issues being the more physical dominant force against the big play susceptible Apple. This game should be a doozy with an over/under 6 points higher than any other on the board. I’ll have shares of both Smith-Schuster and Brown, but initially I pay down here more often than I would pay up for Brown in a battle against Marshon Lattimore.

T.Y. Hilton Vs. Janoris Jenkins

Keep in mind that the Colts move Hilton around enough that he will be seeing a bunch of different defenders in this one. That’s not a bad thing either as the Jackrabbit is not a guy I like to attack too often. Despite that, Hilton is the clear top target on a Colts team that is in the midst of a very heated battle for a spot in the postseason. Hilton while battling some injuries is still managing the 5th most yards per route covered in the league this season making him a nightmare for opposing defenses.

I’m also hoping Beckham is able to suit up this week so I can run a few lineups with them back and forth, but I’m not counting on it. This game features the weeks second highest total and with the Colts home as 9 point favorites, I’m banking on Hilton being the primary beneficiary if they’re able to cover.

Value Town

I am quantifying value on each site by price where on FanDuel I am looking for players priced below 6K and DraftKings priced below 5k. These are the guys in GPP’s that are those targeted punts that we need to beat large fields and walk away with the trophy.

Think about this for a moment, you look at the teams at the top and say to yourself, “How in the world did this guy think rostering player X was a good idea?” Well, these are the guys who allow you to get all the heavy hitters in the same lineup. You want a swag bag, you want the big bucks, these are the guys in week 16 I think could help you get there.

FanDuel                                                    DraftKings

1. Calvin Ridley 5.5K                                                                1 . Robby Anderson 4.5K

2. Robert Foster 6K                                                                  2.  Dante Pettis 4.3K

3. Dede Westbrook 5.5K                                                          3.  Antonio Callaway 3.9K

4. Josh Reynolds 5.3K                                                             4.  Michael Gallup 3.5K

5. Taylor Gabriel 5K                                                                 5. Zay Jones 3.7K
