Chris’ Afternoon Delight: Draftkings and Fanduel NFL Afternoon Slate Guide 12/16/18

Hey, my name is Chris and I will be bringing you your DFS Football “afternoon delight.” This article will be focusing on the afternoon slates each week during the NFL season. The purpose of this article will be to put you on a successful path for this slate. I will break down each game, as well as giving you my favorite plays from those games. Each week this slate will have 2 to 4 games. This means ownership will be heavily concentrated on select players, which is both good and bad to a certain extent. Most of the time in these slates you will need at least two of those chalk players in order to stay with the competition. The key to winning this slate will be to differentiate yourself in other spots in order to get yourself to the top of those large field gpps.

We have big winners weekly, here at the DFS Army. Here is biggzz25, who tied for first in this past weeks showdown

                                                                  Seahawks V 49ers

On the Seahawks side of the ball, we have some chalky options that should be safe plays on this slate. Carson is my top RB option on this slate going up against this week 49er defense. Penny is out so that takes away a part of the committee that the Seahawks have been using. The Seahawks should be winning for the majority of this game and it would not surprise me to see Carson rush for over 100 yards with a TD or two. Wilson is my next top option on this Seahawks team. I do not believe he will be the gpp winning QB play on DK, he makes for a very safe option. Wilson will not need to throw the ball much in this game and I prefer to play him on FD where there are no bonuses for 300-yard performances. He could very easily throw for 3 touchdowns in the first half and not be needed to do much at all during the second half of this game. On a site like DK, you are going to want to have exposure to those bonuses. Plus he is the top-priced option on DK which makes me even more hesitant to play him there. Lockett is my favorite WR on this team, he is the only one that I can trust to get over 10 fantasy points. He has had a solid season this year and should put up some numbers in the first half. On this slate, I am leaning on using pass catchers from the 3 other teams due to game flow and projected game totals. The only other gpp option that I am interested in on this Seahawks team is Jaron Brown at very minimal exposure.

Seahawks Top Plays: Carson, Wilson, and Lockett

The 49ers side of the ball is interesting. Breida is a true game-time decision and if he plays I would avoid using him and any other RB on this team. Mullens , however, is a great option on this slate. He is cheap and should be in catch up mode for the majority of this game. The Seahawks defense is not one that I have been avoiding this season and I am not going to stop here. Mullens should have plenty of opportunities to gain a lot of yards in the air and on the ground as well. Pettis has been my guy for the last several weeks. He has stepped it up big time in the last month and a half filling in for Garcon and Goodwin. Pettis torched this defense just a few weeks ago and he should see plenty of targets once again this week. I am not expecting the same results as last time, but he should have a good game and is at a solid price that he should be able to pay off. Kittle has also been one of my favorite players in the NFL for the last year. He has the name and he definitely has the talent. He has been Mullens go-to guy and should be heavily targeted in this game as well. Kittle offers a very high floor and an explosive ceiling that he showed off last week against the Broncos. On a side note, if Breida does not suit up, Wilson Jr does become my favorite play on this team and should be very highly owned.

49ers Top Plays: Mullens, Pettis, and Kittle

Patriots V Steelers

This is the game where the majority of my lineup will come from. On the Patriots side of the ball, look no further than the G.O.A.T himself, Tom Brady. This game is going to feature a lot of passing and Brady is going to put up a lot of fantasy numbers against this Steelers defense. When push comes to shove and the season nears its end, Brady is the QB that I want leading my team into the playoffs. The Patriots are fighting for home-field advantage in the playoffs and are also fighting for a first-round bye as well. Brady has plenty of options to throw the ball to, so it is going to be hard for this Steelers defense to hold him down. Edelman has been Brady’s favorite WR for several seasons now and should see plenty of targets in this game. The Steelers will not be able to cover everyone on every play and with the return of Burkhead there are just too many threats on this team. Gronk has historically dominated the Steelers. In 6 games against them in his career, he has 39 catches, 664 yards, and 8 touchdowns. That is pure domination and if Gronk shows up as he has in the past, there is no one on this defense that can stop him. Gronk is always a gpp play because he can be a dud, but I am willing to bet that he will be a key piece for victory if the Patriots do win this game. Gordon is my last top option on this Patriots offense. He has been developing a strong connection with Brady over the course of the season. Gordon is explosive and can get deep quick and it would not surprise me if he a couple of big plays in this game. Other gpp options go out to White and Burkhead

Patriots Top Options: Brady, Edelman, Gronk, and Gordon

The same story can be told here for the Steelers as I did the Patriots. Big Ben is the top play on this Steelers team and possibly on this slate and the main one as well. I do not see the running game playing a huge role in this contest for either team. This Patriots defense is not that good, they have given up a lot of points to some pretty mediocre teams and against this powerhouse offense, it is hard to imagine that they stop them here. Ben should have plenty of opportunities to throw the ball in this game and with Conner being out, the Steelers should rely on him even more. Samuels is a top option, and while I do not think he does too much in the running game he is very inexpensive on both sites and should be a lock and load play if Conner is indeed out. He will get his rushes and he will get his catches in this game and outside of Conner playing, I do not see Samuel not hitting value in this game. Ridley could get a revenge vulture TD here in this game and he makes for a gpp dart throw, but I am not too concerned about that. Just be prepared because that is a possibility. Juju is my next top option, while Brown is the best WR in the NFL, the Patriots usually do whatever it takes to lock down the top guy on the opposing offense and if they lock Brown down, Juju will have a big game. Juju is my favorite overall option at WR on this slate and should see double-digit targets in this game easily as he will be used early and often. With that being said, Brown is no slouch. It is almost impossible to completely shut Brown out of a game and I am expecting his ownership to be lower than Edelman and Juju and that makes for a great gpp play. Just like a couple of weeks ago when Juju was the consensus top option, I mentioned to Zag over to Brown and it paid off big time. I can see that happening again this week. Other gpp options outside of Ridley is Vance McDonald, but I prefer to stick to either Kittle or Gronk on this slate.

Steelers Top Options: Big Ben, Samuels, Juju, and Brown

                                          The Extra Point is Up…

That game finished up our afternoon delight. *My favorite defensive plays are the Seahawks, Steelers, and Patriots in that order. Whether you are preparing dinner on the east coast or wrapping up lunch on the west coast. Hopefully, your main slate lineups are currently crushing and if you played the early slate it would be great to see you guys at the top of those leaderboards. Feel free to hit me up in our channels for any questions. I am almost always available to talk to. Football is my passion and I am always willing to help out as much as possible. Cash games are fairly easy in these mini slates. Don’t try to be too cute with your lineups and you will be just fine. In gpps’ you will need to have a couple low owned plays to vault you to the top of the leaderboards along with some of the chalky plays as well.
