Blande’s 6th Man: October 21st

Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande . I’m a contributor and coach over here at the DFS Army. Welcome to the second edition of the 6th Man! We have a four game slate on our hands today, implying opportunities to exploit bench players are few. However, there are some interesting places we can target for value. Especially on Fanduel where you can afford to take some risk with low priced bench players. Before we dive into the 6th men for today, take a moment to read up on the Free Squares by CeeGee. He has the key plays on the slate covered. Now, let’s jump in! Salaries are FD/DK.

Eric Gordon – SG (5700/5300):

Everyone is awaiting the news from the NBA on suspensions for Chris Paul. If Paul is suspended, Gordon will see a boost in usage off the bench, with even the possibility of starting. Gordon is already averaging 30 minutes a game this season, his minutes and usage only go up if Paul is out. He is an excellent play in all formats. I’ll love him, even more, coming off the bench than starting.

Jordan Clarkson – SG (4500/5000):

Jordan Clarkson has been his great offensively self in two games off the bench this season. He’s averaging 23 minutes in those games and is especially affordable on FD. The matchup against the Hawks is a great one and with the potential the game gets out of hand early, Clarkson will only see a boost in minutes and usage. Clarkson is an excellent GPP play, especially on FD due to price and format.

Alex Poythress – PF (3900/3700):

Poythress is a cheap value play off the bench as the back up to old man Vince Carter. Carter was taken off the injury list and is a go today, but he is old and this creates an opportunity for Poythress who has averaged 20 minutes a game this season. Add in the potential for this game to get out of hand early, and the outlook for Polythress looks more favorable. His a strictly GPP punt play with the potential to exceed value.

Boban Marjanovic – C (4000/4100):

Boban has started out this season on a strong foot, making a solid case to be the starting center over Gortat. That won’t be happening today, but Boban will continue to split minutes with Gortat at the 5. This means Boban will see around 20 minutes a night, which is more than enough for him to do his damage. Coming off the bench in this game, added with his size and ability to finish, makes him a solid value play here for GPPs.

Gerald Green – SF (3700/3300):

If Paul is suspended, everyone will be on Eric Gordon and Michael Carter-Williams who will possibly slide into the starting lineup. Gerald Green could find himself going overlooked in this situation. Green is basically free on both sites, and without Paul, he’ll offer a scoring threat for the Rockets. He is a sneaky GPP punt play and is my favorite punt on Fanduel!

That’s it for the 6th men today. Good luck out there, and don’t forget to join us at the DFS Army for more content, tools, and coaching.
