Zadelstein’s Bargain Basement – Finding Value for DraftKings College Football Week 5!

QB – Eric Dungey ($6,300) Syracuse

Syracuse is a 24-point dog this week traveling to face third-ranked Clemson.  This is a relatively high over/under game though at 66.   In order to stay in this game, Eric Dungey is going to have to play lights out, and he has done so on his stage before.  Last year, in a 27-24 upset over Clemson, Dungey put up 278 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air.  He also added 61 rushing yards.  This would have been 29.22 DK points.  In games that he has fully played, Dungey is averaging 230 passing yards and 73 rushing yards.  He also has 13 total touchdowns on the season.  My biggest concern for Dungey is how he handles himself against a powerful defense.  A few weeks ago, in a smash spot against Florida State, Dungey was very reckless with his body.  This forced him to come out several plays, and eventually (even though it was officially reported to be a turf bead in his eye) knocked him out of the game.  As long as he can stay healthy, I think Eric Dungey will be a great value quarterback or super-flex for the week.

RB – Trey Ragas ($3,500) Louisiana Lafayette

Trey Ragas has been great running the ball for ULL this year, averaging 8.4 yards per attempt and getting in the end-zone twice.  Ragas is going up against the stout Alabama defense so this is definitely a GPP only punt for me.  In the one game this season against SEC competition, Ragas was held to 7 carries for 49 yards and 3 receptions for 46 yards.  That was good for 12.5 DK points, and he still had 7 yards a rush.  I look for Ragas to struggle in the game, but still put up enough production to get some great value at his low price.

WR – Landon Wolf ($3,000) Oklahoma State

This is purely a punt play on news for me but one with upside.  This week, Oklahoma State inside receiver Jalen McClesky declared that he will redshirt and transfer.  This means that his backup Wolf will now get the start.  Wolf has 4 receptions on 5 targets so far this year but I look for that to drastically increase.  This is a team that is throwing the ball over 35 times a game.  McClesky had 24 targets through 4 games which will now be going elsewhere.  Also, keep an eye on receiver Dillon Stoner.  He is another inside receiver that exited Saturday’s game with an injury.  With this injury and McClesky making an early exit, Wolf could be in for a huge game.

WR – Kesean Carter ($4,400), Zach Austin ($3,400) Texas Tech

I want as much of the West Virginia – Texas Tech game as I can get and these are both great options for that.  The first play, Carter, is a news play.  TJ Vasher is doubtful for the game this week against West Virginia.  Against Lamar, when Vasher was pulled early, Carter led the team with 7 receptions for 76 yards.  In a game that has a 77 total and a close spread, Carter could see a ton of action.  Zach Austin is a starting inside receiver for this Red Raiders team.  He has 21 targets on the year and is coming off a 10 target, 7 catch, 69-yard game.  If he can continue with anything that kind of opportunity, he can have a huge return on his price.  He is very much a value play to get exposure to this high scoring game.

WR – Isaiah Zuber ($5,800) Kansas State

Kansas State has not had the highest powered passing attack, throwing just 25 times a game for 191 yards.  Zuber has 12 of those targets a game for 356 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Zuber is the obvious passing target for this Wildcat team that will have to throw the ball to get to the Texas defense.  While Texas has been pretty tough against the run, they have been surprisingly soft on the pass this year giving up 245 yards a game.  That being said, I think Zuber, who is the 20th priced wide receiver on Draft Kings, could very easily have top 10 production this week.
