Tulsa @ Temple FanDuel Single Game Preview

FD is giving us a single game slate for Thursday night football, and this one could be a fun one!  Tulsa and Temple play for the second year in a row, this year at Temple.  Last year, Temple went into Tulsa as a 4.5 road favorite and railed off a 43-22 win compiling 451 yards total offense.  This year, Temple’s season got off to a slow start before traveling to Maryland last week and upsetting the Terrapins 35-14 behind backup quarterback Anthony Russo.  Tulsa has had an up and down year, winning their first game before playing a close game against Texas then losing outright to Arkansas State.  Temple is favored by 7 with a total set at 58.  If you are new to DFS College Football, be sure to check out our CFB Research Article!

Tulsa

The key to the Tulsa offense is the run game.  They have run the ball twice as many times as they have passed the ball.  Running back RB Shamari Brooks ($15,500) has 70 carries on the year for 310 yards and 4 touchdowns.  This gives him an over 30% touch rate for this offense, and this is where Tulsa likes to start. Last week, Temple sold out on the run and challenged Maryland to run the ball, holding them under 4.5 yards per carry and under 200 yards total offense.   If they do that this week, QB Luke Skipper ($14,500) will have to step up.  Skipper has 521 yards through the air on the year with 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.  He can use his legs as well, running for 109 yards and a touchdown through 3 games.  The top pass catcher for the Golden Hurricanes is WR Keenan Johnson ($13,500) who has 11 catches for 159 yards and a touchdown on the year.  WR Jarion Anderson ($11,00) also has 11 receptions for 90 yards on the year.  WR Keylon Stokes ($12,000) has been utilized many ways this year, with 10 catches for 115 yards and 5 carries for 51 yards.  These receivers will have to step up if Temple sells out on the run.

Temple

One of the top factors to watch this game will be who starts at quarterback for Temple.  Last week, QB Frank Nutile ($14,000) was held out of the game for an undisclosed injury and backup QB Anthony Russo ($10,500) got the start.  Through 2 games, Nutile was throwing for 200 yards a game with 4 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.  Russo threw for 252 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception last week against Maryland.  Who starts will be pivotal in this game.  Be sure to join us in our VIP Slack chat approaching game time for up to date news!  One of the reasons it is so pivotal is because the scheme Temple will use.  In the 2 games with Nutile under center, the Owls threw the ball 71 times to 51 rushes.  In Russo’s start against Maryland, they ran the ball 52 times to 28 passes.  RB Ryquell Armstead ($15,000) was the main benefactor of those increased runs.  After getting 14 carries in each of the first 2 games, Armstead got 26 carries for 118 yards against Maryland.  WR Brandon Mack ($13,000) is the leading receiver for Temple with 13 receptions for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns.  WR Bentrell Bryant ($11,500) has 12 receptions for 131 yards.  WR Isaiah Wright ($10,000) is a speedy receiver with 7 receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown as well as 3 rushes on the year.
