Sniper’s Slide Tackle – Player Picks for EPL Matchweek 5 on DraftKings & FanDuel

We are back after the International Break for a full six-game English Premier League main slate on Saturday morning. This slate has two massive favorites and one in-particular will be hard to nail down until we see the Starting XI…looking at you Chelsea. The Slide Tackle is now for VIPs only and includes five players I’m targeting heading into that crucial period before lineups are released. Make sure you’re around in Slack Chat when that happens (about an hour before kick-off) as that’s when there is the biggest edge and when TreyJ will drop our full list of plays.

Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)
DraftKings: $10.6k F | FanDuel: $12.5k F

Yeah, I’m not getting cute this week and I often see people doing just that so I’m going to go ahead and make sure you’re playing Sergio Aguero Saturday morning. There is no reason not to play him on this slate, even if you hate goal dependent forwards like me. Aguero is about 73% to score a goal against Fulham and is shooting enough to have a decent floor should the incredibly unlikely happen and he go without a goal in this matchup. Should Aguero sit, go ahead and fire up Gabriel Jesus and there’s even merit to playing both of them in cash if you think City absolutely crushes.

Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
DraftKings: $10.5k M/F | FanDuel: $12.0k M

So I want to lay out my thoughts on Hazard really clearly. If Willian is NOT in the lineup, play Hazard. For me, it’s really that simple. But if Willian and Hazard start together the value of Hazard is drastically hurt at that price tag, especially on DraftKings. In that scenario, I would prefer Willian to Hazard in cash but I’m more likely to try and fit in an extra Manchester City piece than play either of the two. Also assuming Willian does not start I don’t mind having a few shares of Pedro in GPPs.

Aaron Mooy (Huddersfield)
DraftKings: $5.5k M | FanDuel: 8.0k M

Mooy is definitely more of a DraftKings play but he proves that thanks to the peripheral stats, you don’t have to be on a good team to contribute in DFS. Mooy will be at home and handles the set piece duties for Huddersfield. They take on Crystal Palace could be without Zaha and is proven to be a different team in that scenario. I really like the floor Mooy has at $5,500 and should Huddersfield nip one of the goals in this low total game I suspect he’ll be part of it. Also from this game and for the same reasons I will also have shares of Luka Milivojevic.

Alexis Sanchez (Manchester United)

DraftKings: $9.2k M/F | FanDuel: $9.0k F

Sanchez is at the opposite end of the spectrum as Mooy as he’s likely in my FanDuel player pool but will be hard pressed to make the cut on DraftKings. Manchester United is in plenty of turmoil this season with a sluggish start and they take to the road against the early Cinderella’s of the year in Watford who are 4-0-0. But forward is a tricky spot on FanDuel, especially if you want to squeeze in Hazard, so the savings on Sanchez is nice for a player who can create chances as well as find the net. My biggest concern with the play is actually the uncertainty of the lineup so make sure you have a pivot ready if Sanchez doesn’t start the late game.

Alfie Mawson (Fulham)

DraftKings: $2.7k D | FanDuel: $5.5 D

Until the edge on plays like this stop for FanDuel stop you should get used to seeing a centerback in this fifth spot. FanDuel is great for this types of plays as the scoring system includes clearances and blocks in addition to interceptions and tackles. These players are often udnerpriced and typically have less volatility then other positions. Hopefully, I didn’t jinx Mawson as he and the rest of the Fulham back line should be under constant siege versus Manchester City. If you’re disappointed I don’t have a DraftKings defender on the list, Jose Holebas and Diego Rico are currently my favorite pay up options over there.

That’s it for today, remember to be in Slack Saturday morning as myself and Trey will be providing updates and our player pools when lineups are released!
