UW81 here. I’m a contributor over at DFS Army with a focus on playing on Draft. Give me a follow on Twitter to catch the latest news on Draft for MLB, PGA, and NFL.  As always, your best compliment is retweeting and/or sharing this information across social media.  Thank you!

This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.

Quick Trends (20 game sample)

  • As the NFL season starts, the MLB season starts to be forgotten. This results in either everyone drafting the same, or very different.  Today was a different day. There wasn’t a standout first pick. Here’s the list of people that did end up going first: Trout, Betts, Verlander, Blackmon, and Bregman. Personally I would go with Trout
  • Rounding out the first round: Ramirez and Goldschmidt.
  • Chalk: Trout, Betts, Goldschmidt, Ramirez, Lindor, Carpenter, Harper, Blackmon, and Verlander. A 53% chalk night doesn’t come around very often as there was not a solid consensus on many players tonight.

Draft Projections & Rankings

The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy

  • Pitching: Verlander is great, but not first pick great tonight. You have 4 min options in pitching running tonight with a stretch into six. There’s no reason to reach here.
  • Hitting: There are a lot of options on a 15 game slate. There’s a grunge match between MIL and CHC especially after the Cubs new Ace pitcher threw some shade at Brewers fans. Could mean some fireworks or a lot of nothing. Rockies are at home and there are a lot of teams with high totals tonight to take advantage of.

Player spotlight:  Everyday we high-light one player that went undrafted. Feeling contrarian tonight? Look no further than  Justin Turner. He’s on fire in a tougher matchup tonight.
