Friday, September 21, 2018 features a rare three-game college football slate.

  • Florida Atlantic @ UCF
  • Penn State @ Illinois
  • Washington State @ USC

Florida Atlantic @ UCF (-14, O/U 71)

FAU

09/01/2018 @ Oklahoma L 14 – 63
09/08/2018 Air Force W 33 – 27
09/15/2018 Bethune-Cookman W 49 – 28

Friday will be a great barometer for the uneven Owls who got their doors blown off against Oklahoma, but have had a couple nice offensive showings in the past couple of weeks. RB Devin Singletary ($10,000 FD/ $8,600 DK) had two touchdowns going into last week’s game vs. Bethune Cookman, then went off for 5 TDs, so now his 7 rushing TDs on the season lead the country. He was FAU’s 1st AP All-America last year and has 51 career TDs. Singletary feels like the safest RB on the slate. With the ITT being what it is I am also interested in Singletary’s backfield mate QB Chris Robison ($9,800 FD/ $8,100) in FD GPPs and DK all formats.  On FD, Robison is priced off of the Air Force game where he went for 472 passing yards and 3 TDs.  On FD especially, with McSorley ($10,400), Minshew ($10,300), and Milton ($10,300) not too much more, I think a majority of the field will gravitate to some combination of two of these three between the QB and Superflex position. On DK, Robison’s price is more than fair.

UCF

UCF does only have the two games played due to Hurricane Florence wiping out last week’s game. As long as FAU can keep it close, UCF Heisman candidate QB McKenzie Milton ($10,200 FD/ $10,500 DK) will be the man. I want plenty of exposure to the Golden Knights with the highest implied team total on the board.  On FD, Milton is a slam dunk. On DK, it is more difficult to fit Milton in, but the receivers Nixon (6,200 DK), Davis (7,300 DK), or Snelson ($6,400 DK)

Penn State

What more needs to be said about QB Trace McSorley ($10,400 FD/ $10,300 DK) who has the highest floor on the slate. McSorley actually has more rushing TDs (6) than passing TDs (6). Trace is the definition of a cash lock.  Backfield mate RB Miles Sanders ($9,200 FD/$7,900 DK) is another cash staple.

Illinois

Illinois showed a little life on Saturday at Solider Field vs. South Florida. Last week, I bet on South Florida (-11), thinking that the Illini would be outclassed and that Soldier Field would not prove to be much of a “home crowd,” but they actually played pretty well until falling apart in the 4th quarter. Penn State has given up 148.3 rush yards/game, so there some rush yards to be had from RB Mike Epstein ($8,500 FD/$4,200 DK) or RB Reggie Corbin ($7,800/$4,000 DK). Who do I like better? Washington State

09/01/2018 @ Wyoming W 41 – 19
09/08/2018 San Jose St. W 31 – 0
09/15/2018 Eastern Wash. W 59 – 24

Washington State enters Week 4 undefeated. Yeah, its not a great non-conf schedule, but they have put some up some impressive defensive numbers. Going into Week 4, they are 5th in total defense in FBS, allowing just 236 yards/game and just 127 passing yards. On offense,  QB Gardner Minshew II ($10,300 FD/$7,500 DK) has continued the tradition of prolific Cougar passers, and Minshew leads the country with 401 pass yards/game and 55 pass attempts/game. Minshew and several of the receivers are cheaper on DK.

USC

Hard to imagine a worse start for Coach Helton and the Trojans, who return home for a short week to face Washington State at the Coliseum. USC is 91st in total offense and even worse (for FD), the Trojans are 112th in scoring offense. Easily the top Trojan is true freshman WR Amon-Ra St. Brown ($6,500 DK)  who has topped 20 FDP in two of USC’s three games so far.  To me, he is the only reliable option on USC.
