I haven’t had time to write a full article here on the site the past few weeks, with a new work schedule and some family issues to take care of, but, I’ve been posting my favorite stacks in our DFS Army VIP Slack chat when I’ve had the time. Here are a few of the results from last week. I’ll be getting back to more frequent write ups soon.

MLB Top Stacks Results from Tuesday (wrong date on pic), Wednesday and Sunday

Not a bad week last week, lets see if we can keep this hot streak rolling starting with today’s Monday MLB Slate!

My Favorite MLB Top Stacks Today Monday 🇺🇸 August 13th 🇺🇸

ARIZ @ Texas Bartolo Colon
Peralta, Goldschmidt, Pollock, Escobar

No surprise here, they will be uber chalk tonight but I can’t ignore them against Bartolo Colon in the Texas heat. Colon has been bad for a few years now, and outside of his Hilarious at bats when he was in the National League, he’s been irrelevant in DFS as far as a pitching option when he takes the mound. Targeting bats against him however, has been a thing for a few years now, because of his awful numbers against both left and right handed hitters. Since the 2017 season, Colon has allowed a 363 wOBA, 216 ISO, 39.8% fly ball rate and 41.5% hard contact rate to left handed hitters. Against right handed hitters in that time span, his numbers are even worse, allowing a 373 wOBA, 255 ISO but a slightly better 33.8% fly ball rate and 36.7% hard contact rate. The entire D’Backs lineup is in play tonight, with my favorite stack being the top 4 hitters in the order.

CLE @ CIN Homer Bailey
Lindor, Brantley, Ramirez, Alonso

I promise I don’t write up the Indians every day because I’m a die hard Cleveland sports fan. Ok maybe that has a little to do with it, but, you can’t ignore these elite matchups. It feels like they always have a  juicy matchup, and when you have elite hitters like these, you simply can’t ignore these situations when they present themselves. The usual suspects are in play here tonight for the Tribe vs the Reds right hander Homer Bailey. Dating back to the start of the 2017 season, Bailey has given up a 369 wOBA, 201 ISO, 33.5% fly ball rate and 33.9% hard contact rate to left handed hitters. Against right handers he’s been equally bad allowing a 391 wOBA, 199 ISO, 28.7% fly ball rate (not terrible) and a 40.6% hard contact rate. I love the Tribe tonight in hitter friendly Great American Ballpark.

CHW @ DET Artie Lewicki
Delmonico, Sanchez, Abreu, Palka

Its really hard for me to write teams that really not great offenses, but, tonight, the White Sox get a matchup that they should be able to exploit against Tigers rigth hander Artie Lewicki. The White Sox have a decent core of young hitters, who in the coming years should develop nicely but have struggled a bit this season. Artie Lewicki has been pretty bad in his short career so far, he’s only faced a total of 200 batters in his career, 104 lefties and 96 righties, so its hard to know for sure just how bad he is. Since 2017 he has allowed a 395 wOBA, 174 ISO , 39.5% fly ball rate and 39.5% hard contact rate to left handed hitters. He’s been better against right handers, but not great, allowing a 341 wOBA, 100 ISO, 32.4% fly ball rate and 38% hard contact rate. The White Sox lefties + Abreu are in play here tonight as you can see Lewicki has really struggled vs left handed hitters in his short career.

ATL vs MIA Merandy Gonzalez
Acuna, Albies, Freeman, Markakis

Here is another case where we have a Pitcher who has a small sample size, but, in that small sample size he has been just awful. Merandy Gonzalez has faced 82 batters this season, 31 lefties and 51 righties, and he’s been terrible against both. Against lefties he has allowed a 405 wOBA, 185 ISO, 27.3% fly ball rate and a 31.8% hard contact rate. The fly ball and hard contact rates are not terrible, but, the 36.4% line drive rate and the 12.9% walk rate are very bad. Against right handers, he has similar numbers allowing 368 wOBA, 191 ISO, 38.9% fly ball rate and 33.3% hard contact rate. He walks less right handers, only 7.8% and he strikes out more as well, 21.6% vs right compared to 16.1% vs left. He throws his fastball about 60% of the time, between 92-94 mph, and he allows a 461 wOBA, 523 xwOBA and 200 ISO on the pitch. All that being said, the sample size is small, but, he’s been so bad I have no problem going heavy on the Braves tonight in Atlanta.

The MLB Research Staion is my #1 source for research every single day and is one of the VIP Only tools our members have access to daily. Everything from wOBA and ISO vs the Handedness of today’s starting pitcher, to Average Exit Velocity this tool will cut your daily research time in half. If you’re familiar with Myself and Ben you already know the time we’ve put into the “Sheets” and we’re extremely happy to bring them over here to the DFS Army this year.

STL vs WAS Tommy Milone
Carpenter, Molina, Ozuna, DeJong

The Cardinals right handed hitters are in a prime spot tonight against Nationals left hander Tommy Milone. Against right handed hitters, Milone has allowed a 444 wOBA, 302 ISO, 38.4% fly ball rate and 30.9% hard contact rate. Against lefties he’s much better, only giving up a 238 wOBA, 182 ISO (not good) a 29.2%.  I’m including Matt Carpenter in my Cards stack, simply because he’s an ELITE hitter and I can’t justify leaving him off this stack simply because Milone is “better” vs Left handers. Load up on the Cards tonight.

TOR @ KC Brad Keller
Granderson, Smoak, Travis, Grichuk

Brad Keller has been decent this year, only allowing a 325/280 wOBA to Left/Right handed hitters and only allowing a 058/089 ISO to Left/Right handed hitters. However, his 4.43 XFIP and his really low strike out rates, 16.9% vs left and 14.6% vs right, lead me to believe its been all smoke and mirrors to this point. He throws his mid 90’s fastball about 50% of the time, and allows a 347 wOBA and 374 xwOBA on this pitch. The Blue Jays lineup is full of hitters who can do serious damage against fastball in this speed range. Granderson, Smoak, Grichuk, Morales and Martin at the targets here if we’re going to attach Keller’s fastball.

🚨GAME STACK🚨

SEA vs OAK Sean Manaea
Haniger, Segura, Cruz, Zunino

Any time the Mariners get a matchup vs a left handed pitcher you’ve got to consider them in your stacks. That’s exactly what they get this evening with Sean Manaea in Oakland. While the park is not great I still love the matchup here for the Mariners. Manaea has been solid this year, only allowing a 283/285 wOBA to Left/Right handed hitters, along with only giving up a 109/164 ISO to Left/Right handed hitters, so I think people may overlook the Mariners. If you dig further however, you will see that Manaea gives up a lot of fly balls, 35.6% to right handers along with a lot of hard contact 39.9% to right handers. These are two categories that do not lead to success for starting pitchers. Manaea throws his low 90’s fastball nearly 55% of the time, this is not a good thing for him as the Mariners Offense is full of hitters with 420 xwOBA’s and higher against that pitch. Load up the Mariners tonight as a late hammer sneaky stack in your GPP’s

OAK vs SEA Marco Gonzales
Semian, Chapman, Lowrie, Davis

The Oakland A’s are always in consideration when they get a matchup vs a left hander, and while Marco Gonzales has not been terrible this year, he has some peripherals that we love to attack with power bats. Gonzales throws his Sinker 34% of the time, and on that pitch he allows a 363 wOBA, 423 xwOBA, 182 ISO and 35% hard contact rate. Players like Matt Chapman, Khris Davis, Je Lowrie and Mark Canha all do serious damage against the Sinker and they all have an xwOBA over 400 and a hard contact rate over 40%. Load up on the A’s tonight, and if you wanna get crazy 🚨GAME STACK🚨 them with the D’Backs above, despite the poor hitters park there should be plenty of runs scored in this game tonight.

That’s all I’ve got tonight, I hope you all enjoyed the article and I hope you have a ton of success tonight. I look forward to see all of those DFS Army Helmets at the top of the leaderboards this evening !!!
