Kickin’ It On the Pitch – EPL Matchweek 1 for DraftKings & FanDuel

Let’s start with the obvious, I’m not TreyJ. I know how disappointing that is for all of you but our man is on vacation so I’ll be writing the Kickin’ It article this week. The below is a free preview of each game and my thoughts on the top player from each team.  But the real value is with our Slack Chat when official lineups are released Saturday morning as well as the Research Station. Game-By-Game Breakdown

Bournemouth vs Cardiff

This is about as big of a favorite as you will see Bournemouth this year against a team that made no improvements from last year and is widely expected to be relegated after inevitable year in the Premier League. Ryan Fraser is the guy most of us will look to as the playmaker for this team and while I’m interested, he’s crazy expensive. I’ll feel better about playing him if Jordan Ibe doesn’t start but it will essentially come down to roster construction. I’m not sure I’ll ever roster a Cardiff player on a main slate this year outside of a CB on FanDuel. If I did, it would be a GPP dart on their best player, Hoilett.

Fulham vs. Crystal Palace

A better game as Fulham hosts Palace in  game that features Championship player of the year Ryan Sessegnon. The 19-year old will be interesting at some point this year but I think their will be some growing pains this year and he starts out with a healthy price tag. I’ll be reserving him for GPPs at a small rate but don’t forget him later this season. I do think Palace will have some success here and while I’ll touch on a few options tomorrow in Slack, for now I’ll give you the cash play in Andros Townsend. He’ll have some set pieces, crosses in open play, is generally consistent, and has scoring upside. Unless we get a surprise, Townsend will be in my cash lineup.

Huddersfield vs Chelsea

This game is everything to the slate and unfortunately we won’t know jack until lineups are released. Chelsea are massive favorites but they have several players returning from World Cup duty. Mix that in with a new manager, formation, and tactic and things get really interesting. Willian is the guy to look for if he starts he is at or near the top of my cash game rankings as the playmaker and set piece taker. If he’s not starting then Fabregas, Pedro, and Moses all garner interest. Stay tuned tomorrow. On the Huddersfield side you have to look at Aaron Mooy, he should have a set piece monopoly and is playing at home against a potentially non full strength Chelsea team.

Watford vs. Brighton

Another close game with a low total. But don’t worry we have the only high priced defender worth considering in Watords Jose Holebas. Holebas loves to get forward and crosses a ton. Check and check. If you have the money, he’s a prime DraftKings cash play while Peryera starts the year a little too pricey for me. The Brighton side has Pascal Gross who is all over the team sheet for set pieces. He will probably be chalk tomorrow but I’m not convinced you have to eat it. It sounds a little out there but because of Gross’ ownership Knockaert interests me as a GPP pivot.

Wolves vs. Everton

The hammer match of week 1 gives us what I’m considering a cash lock – and I hate that term with a passion – in Gylfi Sigurdsson. He’s priced down and doesn’t have Wayne Rooney next to him this year, his price will rise dramatically the next few weeks. Wolves though is the favorite and made massive improvements after being promoted. They are actually projected as a top-half team. Here’s the problem: they have tons of viable options and we don’t know exactly what they will do. Moutinho is the guy we think will take set pieces but if he doesn’t his floor is trash. Neves is the next best cash guy while I’ll be saving Jota for GPPs.

That’s all the free goodies I have for you today, good luck and I’ll see you in Slack tomorrow morning! Remember, a ton changes based on confirmed lineups & formations. Not a VIP? Join now and use code “SNIPER” for 10% off membership.
