Blande’s Bland Take: WNBA DFS Rundown and Picks 8/11/2018

Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande . I’m here over at the DFS Army with coverage of WNBA. This slate brings two games with a wide disparity in starting times. As a result, Draftkings is only offering single game slates, while Fanduel is going along with a main slate containing both games. The bad news is, Fanduel does not have a late swap option, leaving us open to the late scratch in the IND/LV game. The good news is, the only current injury concerns are in the early game. Let’s dive in!

  • Dallas Wings @ Atlanta Dream

Main injury worry is Liz Cambage, who is questionable due to a head injury. With no Cambage, the onus is on Skylar Diggins-Smith to carry her team, and she has a neutral matchup to work in. She is expensive but is playable in all formats. Theresa Plaisance just returned from injury, but with the Cambage injury will have to play increased minutes here. She’s is extremely cheap and is the top value play on the slate. Another player to benefit from Cambage not playing is Azura Stevens. She’s a beast and is playable in all formats. Glory Johnson and Kayla Thornton make for playable pieces here as well.

With Cambage out, every starter of the Dream is in play today, except Renee Montgomery is a solid play today. Elizabeth Williams and Tiffany Hayes are playable in all formats. Jessica Breland is a GPP special due to her tendency to disappear in some games. Brittney Sykes will see increased minutes. I love Alex Bentley in all formats here today. Monique Billings is also a playable GPP punt. Renee Montgomery is too inconsistent to be a good play, and her occasional flash of upside is just not good enough for a slate like today. She can be used if MMEing.

  • Indiana Fever @ Las Vegas Aces

This is the second leg of a b2b for the Fever. Natalie Achonwa is an all format play today. Her matchup against Carolyn Swords is an excellent one. I have no interest in Candice Dupree today against A’ja Wilson. Victoria Vivians has a great matchup against the Aces, whether she can take advantage of it is an open question. Cappie Pondexter and Kelsey Mitchell are my top guards here for the Fever in good spots. Erica Wheeler and Tiffany Mitchell are GPP viable.

What a matchup for A’ja Wilson! She’s the top play on the entire slate. Carolyn Swords gets another shot at the Fever and she must be licking her chops right now. Play her in all formats. The spot is not an easy one for Kayla McBride and Kelsey Plum, however, they are more than capable of putting up good numbers in it. I’ll use them only in GPPs due to the tough matchup and better options around their price ranges. There’s very little of interest outside of these plays for the Aces.
