We have a two-game slate today, featuring the Mercury once again on a b2b. This should be a fun slate with a lot of value plays and tons of landmines. Let’s navigate it carefully!

  • New York Liberty @ Connecticut Sun

As long as this game is close, Tina Charles will play an insane number of minutes. She’s the top play for the Liberty and is usable in all formats. Kia Vaughn will get most minutes at center and is still relatively cheap enough to be a value play. Amanda Zahui B comes into play if Vaughn gets into foul trouble, relegating her to a strictly GPP punt play. Marissa Coleman is in line to see a significant increase in minutes today, I love her in all formats in this great matchup. With all the injuries, there are basically four guards on the roster today. As a matter of principle, I don’t roster guards against the Sun, but there is some potential value here. Sugar Rodgers might start at shooting guard but will be called on to play some small forward. Kia Nurse is cheap on both sites for the minutes she’ll likely see. Finally, Brittany Boyd is relatively cheap on DraftKings, but is virtually unplayable on Fanduel.

The matchup at center is a good one for the Sun. Chiney Ogwumike is in play today in all formats. Jonquel Jones makes for a nice GPP target, although she is a little pricey for the minutes she gets. Even with a brutal matchup, Alyssa Thomas makes for a good GPP play due to her ability to fill the stat sheets. The matchup is excellent for Shekinna Stricklen, but I’ll let someone else play her due to her inconsistency. She is usable in GPPs though. On paper Courtney Williams and Jasmine Thomas are in fantastic spots today. My lean here is towards Williams who has been more consistent. She is playable in all formats, while Jasmine Thomas is a GPP play. Finally, Morgan Tuck makes for an interesting value play in GPPs. Should Stricklen struggle, Tuck has the potential of getting 20 minutes tonight.

  • Phoenix Mercury @ Las Vegas Aces

The Mercury play a B2B game on the road tonight, after suffering a loss to the Storm last night. Britney Griner is in an excellent position here today and is playable in all formats. The same goes for Diana Taurasi. You can begin your lineups with these two. DeWanna Bonner has been solid in the previous games versus the Aces, however, she is a little too pricey on both sites, relegating her to GPP/Fade status in this excellent spot. There’s enough value on this slate that one can easily fade all the power forwards for the Mercury, who are in a tough spot, except for Devereaux Peters who is a punt on both sites. Finally, Stephanie Talbot, Leilani Mitchell, and Yvonne Turner would split minutes limiting their upsides, while Briann January is only usable as a GPP punt.

This is a tough hill to climb for the Aces. Look for A’ja Wilson and Kayla McBride to lead the way for them. Both Wilson and McBride are playable in all formats. I have little interest in any of the Aces other forwards, handling Griner is no easy task. If forced to go here, Dearica Hamby is the best choice. Tamera Young is in a neutral spot here and she is a little pricey especially on Fanduel for it. Kelsey Plum has to deal with the defense of January, making her a strictly GPP play today. There’s little interest in any other Aces pieces.
