Aces in the Hole: DFS Tennis Picks for August 13

Another week of U.S. Open prep for both the players and those of us playing DFS. The salaries came out earlier than usual so we’re off to a good start. There are two large misprices we have to address and that gives us the ability to play some studs, making for an interesting slate.

For Tennis, I use an odds-based approach, mixing in current form and playing surface history. This article will be free for now and probably move to VIP only when the U.S. Open starts. That’s no reason to wait to become a VIP member with baseball in full swing and football around the corner…not to mention that signing up now locks in your price for Become a VIP and use code SNIPER to get a 10% discount automatically applied to your account each and every month.

MY TENNIS ACES FOR AUGUST 13

Slate Locks at 11:00 am ET

Bradley Klahn ($7,200) – Misprice number one as Klahn is down in the player pool with the underdogs but is actually a -110 pick’em. The ATP rankings on DraftKings are also a bit deceiving but Klahn is in great form winning five of his last six and the lone loss coming 6-4, 6-4 to world #3 Zverev. Meanwhile his opponent Maximilian Marterer stumbles into the Cincinnati event and is not a strong hard court player. Klahn took the last head to head and is chalk you need to be aware of on Monday morning.

Leonardo Mayer ($8,400) – An even bigger misprice here as Mayer has the sixth highest win odds but will cost you a mediocre $8,400. Mayer takes on Michael Mmoh is a qualifier who has played matches each of the last two days, including a Sunday three setter. The concern is this is Mayer’s first hard court match of the season but he is in good form and is the higher quality player. Mayer is the second piece of chalk to consider on Monday but it’s one I’ll most likely be eating it.

Serena Williams ($9,700) – Before we talk about Serena, obviously Djokovic is in play at the top of the player pool. I know Serena has burned a lot of people recently but those recent upsets have created a little implied value in the odds. Daria Gavrilova is a solid player but Serena should roll if she returns anywhere close to form. Gavrilova is only 2-4 in her last six, has lost two matches to Serena, and the last time they played each other Serena was a -3333 favorite compared to

Kristina Mladenovic ($5,500) – Okay, okay, are you looking for a viable punt? I’ll put my neck out there and suggest Mladenovic at $5,500. Yes Mladenovic has lost four straight but Julia Goerges isn’t a stud of a top-10 player on hard courts. Mladenovic did push Serena at Wimbledon a few weeks ago and while I’m not confident she even takes a set I also don’t see Goerges putting down the hammer. Under $6,000 is thin as always but Mladenovic is highest on my list for pure salary relief.

That’s it guys and girls! Please jump into Slack and find me to talk about the slate and definitely let me know how we can improve our Tennis coverage at DFS Army. If you’re not a VIP member with access to Slack Chat, join today and use code SNIPER for 10% off! It’s a new DFS game and I look forward to watching it evolve with the rest of you.
