Sweden v England

The biggest name on the slate is Harry Kane. His ownership should be through the roof. England looks to play balls to him as much as possible; and, with a defensive-minded team like Sweden playing across from the Three Lions, it looks like the chances will come early and often. Here is the thing, though. Sweden plays a 4-4-2 and those 2 sets of 4 are going to lie deep and invite in the attack.  It also clogs up space for a forward like Kane to work. On a 2 game slate you may have to play Kane in your cash games just to block but I think he is strictly a cash game play. Sweden has tough centerbacks who could make it a long game for Harry Kane. Instead, I want to focus on the central mids, as that is a place where you can find success against this Swedish side. Dele Alli would be the way I would go in GPPs, if I believe England can do the job.

On the Sweden side of the pitch, we should see the return of Sebastian Larsson which muddies the free kick waters some. He should see the corner work and probably some indirects with Emil Forsberg taking directs.  Or maybe they decide to keep it status quo and give the set-piece work to Forsberg. I think the likelier scenario is the first one and that makes Larsson my cash game play and Forsberg is relegated to a GPP play. England has seen their share of troubles from the left and the center and that is where I would choose to attack.  The central mids have had some fun against England this World Cup, for what it’s worth.

If you are still wary and wish to try before you buy, check out these options that could get you a free month of the DFS Army! You won’t be disappointed. The helmets on our crowded testimonials page on our site speak for themselves. We can make more room, though!

Russia v Croatia

Congratulations to Russia! I didn’t even give them a puncher’s chance and I am not too shy to say I was wrong. Their game plan against Spain was excellently executed but I don’t think they can pull that same trick against Croatia, a more pressing and better defensive squad.  Really it took a mistake by Pique to give Russia their chance last match. Croatia doesn’t play that game. Their discipline should see them through to the next round, in my estimation.

If you don’t know the name, Luka Modric, then you haven’t been paying attention and you need to come by our slack channel early and often. We can help. He is your cash play while I would look to their wing play in GPP.  Which one in a supposed low scoring affair? You will have to tune in Saturday morning to find that out. Russia has some low odds to score so much of their squad will be rendered a GPP play. Yuri Zhirkov has an issue with his lower leg and will need to pass a late fitness test to see if he can make the start. If he can’t, Fedor Kudryashov could get the nod; and that makes him a must-play in your cash games, at his bargain basement prices (DK: $2800, FD: $4000).

That’s all I wrote. Thanks for reading.  Non-members of the army have been granted a gift. This article will stay free for a little while longer; but, for the full list and the late analysis of formations and betting lines, you need to become a VIP. There is much more in the way of picks, stats, semi-witty banter waiting within the friendly confines of the DFS Army. If you have any questions or whatever, feel free to hit me up on Twitter at @TreyJ989. To the VIPs, Let’s crush! To those on the outside, good luck.
