Before we jump into the slate, a special mention to DFS Army member bv6211 (aka dradt8386) who took down an MLB Tournament yesterday for a cool $50k! If you haven’t done so yet, read his testimonial below and then click on the picture to join us at the DFS Army!

Today’s WNBA four-game slate offers a lot of potential. Vegas is predicting two of the games end in blowouts: The Seattle Storm (-11) @ Indiana Fever game, and the New York Liberty @ Minnesota Lynx (-12) game. The remaining two games are expected to be close fought contests with the Connecticut Sun and the Los Angeles Sparks slight favorites. Injuries right before the All-Star Break also happen to be plaguing a few teams opening up some potential value, or in some cases turning everything into a mess. Let’s dive in!

  • Washington Mystics @ Connecticut Sun

Elena Delle Donne has found success against the Sun this season, making her the top play for the Mystics. LaToya Sanders is in fine form recently, making this matchup against Chiney Ogwumike a good one to target. Finally, I’ll be going back to the well with Ariel Atkins. She has disappointed recently, but this is an excellent spot for her to bounce back and put up a good game. I avoid guards against the Sun, and with the slate we have this is an easy decision to make.

Chiney Ogwumike is the top play for these Mystics. She’s the leader of this team and has a good matchup against Sanders. Alyssa Thomas has to deal with Delle Donne, if she can find a way past this, she has value on here. I’ll let others chase Shekkina Stricklen, I’m still not playing her. Jasmine Thomas and Courtney Williams are barely playable here on Fanduel given their prices, however this is a spot in which they could find their groove and excel.

  • Seattle Storm @ Indiana Fever

You can plug and play Breanna Stewart today! She’s in an excellent spot, and the only worry is she doesn’t get a lot of minutes because of a blowout. Natasha Howard is going through a rough stretch and I don’t see that changing today. I have little to no interest in Alysha Clark here as well, there are just too many other options to go to, given her poor matchup. Both Jewell Loyd and Sue Bird are in play today in all formats. My preference is with Bird since she is cheaper, but Loyd has the higher upside.

For the Fever, there’s not much to like here today. I personally will be fading the entire Fever team. The Fever just don’t have any positive matchups today. I’ve been riding the Natalie Achonwa train the past few games, and I guess this is a good time for me to jump off and allow for it to crash with others onboard. Candice Dupree can’t deal with Stewart. The only interests I could possibly have in this game is Victoria Vivians, but her matchup with Clark is not one I like.

  • New York Liberty @ Minnesota Lynx

Best place to attack the Lynx is through their guards, however the guard situation in New York is scary. With Epiphany Prince and Shavonte Zellous most likely out, my top candidates here are Sugar Rodgers and Bria Hartley. Brittany Boyd and Kia Nurse make for good GPP plays. Good luck figuring all of that out! Marissa Coleman has a tough matchup, relegating her to GPPs only. There are better studs out there than Tina Charles who has to deal with Rebekkah Brunson. I have zero interest in any of the Liberty centers, they just vulture off each other.

For the Lynx, it’s all about Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore. They are both usable in all formats and will excel here today. The only other Lynx player I am really interested in is Danielle Robinson. She has an excellent matchup and should see north of 20 mins today. However, the inconsistency of Robinson relegates her to a GPP only play. Seimone Augustus and Lindsay Whalen are viable GPP punt plays.

  • Atlanta Dream @ Los Angeles Sparks

The Dream face a depleted Sparks team today and would like their chances to get their 8th straight win. Headlining the team is Jessica Breland, who has a good matchup against Candace Parker. Breland is a good play only if Nneka Ogwumike does not play. If Ogwumike plays, then the better play becomes Elizabeth Williams. Angel McCoughtry is also in play here today, although the spot is not a great one. I have very little interest in the guards for the Dream, as the Sparks do a great job limiting opposing guards.

The Sparks find themselves in a very interesting situation. Nneka Ogwumike, Alana Beard, and Odyssey Sims are all questionable. If all three sit out, then the Sparks have 8 players on their roster for this game, including Sydney Wiese who just returned from a knee injury. In such a situation, Candace Parker, Jantel Lavender, Essence Carson, and Chelsea Gray will see well over 30 mins each. I like them in that order. Riquana Williams will most likely get the start at shooting guard and play close to 30 mins as well. Karlie Samuelson and Sydney Wiese will provide backup to the guards, while Maria Vadeeva provides the same for the bigs. All the backups are GPP viable in this scenario, although I won’t go crazy on them. Riquana Williams is the best value play among them.
