Blande’s Bland Take: WNBA DFS Rundown 7/21/2018

Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande . I’m here over at the DFS Army with coverage of WNBA. Once again we have a slate with games with a huge gap in starting times. Draftkings has opted to offer just the single games, while Fanduel is offering a main slate with both games on it. Let’s get into it!

  • Washington Mystics @ New York Liberty

Another day, another chance for Elena Delle Donne to showcase her stuff. She’s a top target on the slate, however, the spot is not an easy one. LaToya Sanders has a good matchup today against the Liberty, and I recon she’ll be highly owned after her performance last game. She makes for a good play in all formats. With or without Natasha Cloud, Ariel Atkins and Kristi Toliver are good plays today, in excellent spots, and can be used in all formats. If Cloud plays, she makes for an interesting GPP play due to potentially low ownership. Watch for news on her status. If Cloud plays, there is little value in Monique Currie and Tierra Ruffin-Pratt, if she doesn’t you can sprinkle them in GPPs.

Tina Charles has done relatively well against the Mystics this season. She gets another opportunity to do so again today. The guard situation gets muddied again today for the Liberty with Shavonte Zellous and Epiphany Prince out. The starting lineup becomes really important here. Brittany Boyd and Bria Hartley are the top two choices here, and the most Cash safe. Kia Nurse makes for an interesting GPP play. Sugar Rodgers and Marissa Coleman should see some time at the small forward position, and I want no part of that. Finally, the matchup at center is a decent one. Kia Vaughn is an intriguing target here, with the potential of putting up a massive score.

  • Minnesota Lynx @ Phoenix Mercury

The Lynx can’t really afford to lose games right now if they want to make the playoffs. Looks for Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore to come out firing. Fowles has a tough matchup against Griner, making Moore my favorite of the two. Rebekkah Brunson should get her full allotment of minutes today, and she is a good play in all formats. I have little interest in Lindsay Whalen and Seimone Augustus, they are just too inconsistent right now. Erlana Larkins had a huge game last time out, and she will gather ownership today at min-price. I won’t be going there today, since Larkins minutes should drop as Brunson picks up more minutes.

Diana Taurasi is the top play here, with Britney Griner following right behind. Taurasi has been on fire this season, and she gets an excellent matchup here against the Lynx. You can fire her up in all formats. Griner has a tougher matchup against Fowles, but she has put up 40+ fantasy points in all prior meetings this season. DeWanna Bonner is in a tough spot here, and except as a GPP hedge play, I want no part of her. Briann January is not someone you’ll see me playing anytime soon, and I have little interest in Yvonne Turner and Leilani Mitchell. Angel Robinson makes for a good value play, since she is near min-price and is getting regular meetings.

That’s it for today! Join us at the DFS Army for more coverage and access to our Research Station and coaches.
