Blande’s Bland Take: WNBA DFS Rundown 7/18/2018

Hi there! I’m Glen but I go by Blande and you can find me on twitter as @DfsBlande . I’m here over at the DFS Army with coverage of WNBA. A nice an early two-game slate awaits us today. The high flying Storm take on the low-sailing Sky in the first game, and the fast-sinking Lynx welcome the bottom-dwelling Fever. The potential for blowouts is high, highlighting the importance for solid game theory on today’s slate. Let’s jump right in!

  • Seattle Storm (-9.5) @ Chicago Sky: O/U 172.5

It starts up top with the Storm. Breanna Stewart and Natasha Howard are in the best spots here tonight. You can fire them up in all formats, and I particularly like the idea of pairing them together to get all the goodness available from this position. Sue Bird is in a great spot here too, however, she has struggled in the previous two games against the Sky. Gamelog watchers should run away from her, making her a good GPP leverage play. Jewell Loyd has a tougher matchup than Bird, but has performed much better than Bird here. She’s playable today even though she is a little too expensive on Fanduel. Alysha Clark and Jordin Canada are not in good positions here and are not necessarily good plays, they should be relegated to GPP flyers.

For the Sky, it begins with their backcourt. Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley have tough matchups, but it hasn’t slowed them in past meetings with the Storm. They are both playable today, with a slight lean towards GPPs. I normally do not attack Alysha Clark on any slate, however Diamond DeShields appears to be her kryptonite. DeShields is a strictly GPP play today, since she has a terrible matchup against Clark. Play her with extreme caution. Cheyenne Parker makes for an interesting value play here as does Gabby Williams. I have little interest in Stefanie Dolson, except as a GPP hedge.

  • Indiana Fever @ Minnesota Lynx (-14.5): O/U 157.5

The Fever are in a tough spot here, going against a Lynx team that just did some soul searching. I want nothing to do with Candice Dupree today. I’ll have some shares of Natalie Anchowa, but I plan to be underweight the field there since this is a tough spot for her. My interest here today lies in the starting guards for the Fever. At the moment, Erica Wheeler and Cappie Pondexter are slated to start and that’s where I am going. Pondexter is especially cheap on Fanduel, making her a great value. I have very little interest in the rest of the Fever players.

This is a season defining game for the Lynx. Their season has gone off the rails, and this is their chance to right it back. Watch for Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore to come out strong here. They are both playable in all formats. There’s an expectation that Rebekkah Brunson plays today. IF she does, she makes an excellent play. Temi Fagbenle becomes excellent value if Brunson is ruled out. Seimone Augustus makes for an interesting GPP play. She’s in a good position but hasn’t taken advantage of it in the past. Thread carefully here. Making the choice between Lindsay Whalen and Danielle Robinson is not an easy task. I’m leaning slightly towards Whalen here, and they are only GPP viable.

That’s it for today. Join us at the DFS Army to get more in-depth coverage and access to our tools and coaches!
