DFS Army World Cup Coverage: Matchday 1 for Fanduel and Draftkings

For many of us football (soccer for the Americans) fans, the last 3 years have been a whirlwind of emotions as far as our country’s FIFA World Cup qualification process was concerned.  Some teams pulled it out.  Others narrowly missed. Some may have even flamed out horribly when you weigh the expectations versus the results. All that is in the past, though, on the eve of world football’s grandest stage. If your country made it, congratulations! For DFS purposes, though, try and navigate the next month with a clear head.  Really these are words we all can live by as we all will try to get our piece of the action. Whether it be the tournament fantasy game, placing wagers, DFS, or all the above, the DFS Army has someone who can answer your questions and help you take your game to the next level.

What’s In Store for World Cup DFS?

We kick this off with the host nation.  It’s the only game on the slate so this first article will be relatively brief but there is actually quite a bit to unpack in this one game. This first article is free so I am going to give out some goodies but most will be safely locked in the vault, only to be opened by the DFS Army VIPs. Such goodies include, but are not limited to, the all-encompassing cheat sheets that go into great detail for every team and every player. Articles will only be free for a short time and then it’s time to get on board or get left behind.

The Games

The prevailing narrative on this game is Russia is the home side and they are the favorites to win this match. Nobody believes that Russia is allowed to now will they lose against one of the worst teams, on paper, in the tournament. If that is what you believe, then there is one place to start.

If you are still wary and wish to try before you buy, check out these options that could get you a free month of the DFS Army! You won’t be disappointed. The helmets on our crowded testimonials page on our site speak for themselves. We can always make more room for you, though!

The Players

Fedor Smolov – He is the man for Russia.  The team goes as he goes.  The Saudi back line has a penchant for getting caught flat-footed, at times.  As the host nation, they did not have to qualify but in the friendly season, we saw his name all over the scoring summaries.  He has this ability to make these timely runs through the defense.  If the Saudi Arabians don’t fix that leak, Smolov will have multiple attempts at goal.  He is the most expensive player on both Fanduel and Draftkings, but he is playable in any format.

Aleksandr Golovin – Every team has that guy who is the spark plug. That is Golovin to Russia.  He doesn’t score a lot for Russia but that is likely because he is asked to do just about everything else. He is someone who will rack up peripheral stats. I like him in any format, as well.

I am going to highlight one more person for you to use. The rest of my plays are under lock and key. Join us because we will be talking strategy and roster construction and stacks. Oh, my!  BECOME A VIP TODAY!

Yahya Al-Shehri – He should set up on the right wing for Saudi Arabia. Russia has had a few patterns pop up. The inability to deal with wing attacks is one. Al-Shehri had 18 shots through qualifying with 6 on frame.  His percentage was worse in the friendlies but he is heavily involved in the offense and he actually gets the ball in the box and doesn’t settle for shots from distance.  I would label him as a GPP play.

So there you have it.  That is the tip of the iceberg for match day 1.  Good luck!
