Brazil v Costa Rica

Costa Rica plays a 541 on defense that turns into a 343 on offense.  Too bad we won’t see much of that. Brazil comes in attack mode always and that wont be any different tomorrow. If Costa Rica is able to manage any possession they will look to get the ball forward to Ureña. I don’t want him; but, for my fanduel lineups, I will take those Costa Rican centerbacks in any format.

The Brazil manager has hinted that he might have something special in store for teams that play 5 at the back. In the army we will get into what that is and how to play it, but it will change how we use the Brazilians. Coutinho could be used as a sub to maybe replace Neymar, given that he limped off the training field with an ankle injury.  He is expected to start and be ok so you’re likely starting him in any format but Brazil is planning for a deep run, so don’t be shocked if they play this cautious. This new plan, should they use it, stills makes Marcelo a cash play.

Iceland v Nigeria

Nigeria is the youngest team in the tournament and while they have team speed and a “can-do”attitude, that can only get you so far against tough competition. This is Nigeria’s tournament life right here.  I think they will be aggressive and feel like they have nothing to lose by taking the game. Unfortunately, that is what Iceland wants from you. Victor Moses is a cash play but everybody else is GPP.  I would look to the right side of the formation if using Nigeria.

Iceland is my way through this game.  I think they are the more organized squad and the overall better squad. Gylfi Sigurdsson is the cash play.  JBG is likely to miss this game which means he should get a monopoly, if not 100% of set pieces. If he is setting the table, there is one guy coming to dinner hungry. Alfred Finnbogason will be the target of many of the open play and does he ever know how to finish his chances

If you are still wary and wish to try before you buy, check out these options that could get you a free month of the DFS Army! You won’t be disappointed. The helmets on our crowded testimonials page on our site speak for themselves. We can make more room, though!

Serbia v Switzerland

On paper, Switzerland is the 2nd best team on the slate.  They did just go 12 rounds with Brazil and while they earned a point for their troubles, they also came away with 3 yellow cards to very important people on the defensive side of the ball.  Serbia is very adept at drawing fouls. Nevertheless, Shaqiri makes for a solid cash play, as I expect them to have the majority of the possession.  He literally does it all for the Swiss.

Serbia should go for broke in this one. Their last game is against Brazil and they are assured of moving on with a win.  I expect them to play sound defensively and look to break on the counter. Their cash play is Aleksandar Kolarov.  He draws fouls, is on set pieces and is solidly defensively

That’s all I wrote. Thanks for reading.  Non-members of the army have been granted a gift. There is much more in the way of picks, stats, semi-witty banter waiting within the friendly confines of the DFS Army. To the VIPs, Let’s crush! To those on the outside, good luck.
