This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.
Quick Trends (20 game sample)
- Plopping in at #1 tonight was a tie between Betts and Morton. BOS is in a good spot today and pitching is pretty scarce for safer plays. My person preference is leaning towards Morton as he has a much higher floor and ceiling compared to the rest of pitching tonight. While there are quality pitchers available that have high ceilings, they also have negative point total floors.
- Rounding out your first round picks were Martinez, Judge, Arenado, and Price.
- Chalk watch: Morton, Betts, Martinez, Benintendi, Price, Judge, Stanton, Arenado, Blackmon, Nimmo, and Cabrera. 73% of rosters were chalky today and branched out in all different directions from there. There were two camps: Coors field truthers and everyone else.

The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy
- Pitching has the most scarcity tonight with safer pitchers as I mentioned above. There is deep availability in hitting tonight at both positions making it a perfect candidate to reach for pitching.
- With chalk being so secure tonight, it’ll really be about grabbing that one off guy in a good spot. There are more than enough candidates. For example, take a look at Daniel Murphy’s BvP toinght as an option
- In OF there’s always your boom or bust champion Gallo with some great numbers against Junis tonight. He’s also got a +300 HR prop bet to back him up giving you a little extra reason to consider pivoting to him tonight.
