This article focuses primarily on 3-Man snake draft strategy. Reason being is that you can easily apply this information to H2H as well as widen up to 4-Man contests, which is the average size of the daily GPPs. I’m going to break down what I saw in 20-30 drafts today and how we can exploit our opponents using our tools over on DFS Army.
Quick Trends (20 game sample)
- It’s Friday night. You have games everywhere. Where do you go first? If your first thought was Trout or Judge, titans of the bats, you would be wrong. In a stunning move on a night with no less than 4 viable top tier pitchers, Kluber was your number one pick. I’m not saying that’s wrong, but there’s an outside chance today I could retire tomorrow morning on 3 mans alone.
- Here’s the basic Pitching model I described earlier in the season. It’s not super accurate, but it’s a good starting point. This uses the current Strikeout props for each pitcher, rounded to the over or under. ERA is rounded up.
- You can see from our basic model, pitching is super flat. Kluber’s good for one extra point over Paxton and 3 over the rest. HR’s are worth 10 by themselves. I’m taking the odds Judge or Trout go yard tonight over needing Kluber.
- Rounding out your top picks was Judge, Trout, Arenado
- Your 100% Drafted was not as solid tonight with so many games: Kluber, Trout, Judge, Arenado, Harper, and Goldschmidt. Only 30% tonight were chalk where its usually around 60-70%.
Draft Projections & Rankings
The default draft rankings by position in Draft for their top positions. While most of these would be solid plays, they are vastly different than our projections and grades we developed in house at DFS Army where take into account many different metrics that these do not. Combining our brand new Starting Lineups Page, Domination Station, Articles, and research station, you can quickly see where some players in absolute smash spots should be drafted higher than what’s on this list.

Strategy
- There’s no need to grab a pitcher first, second, or any earlier than your last pick. If Kluber kills me today because three other pitchers fall flat, so be it but I’m not counting on it.
- The field was split on what to do with Boston tonight with their bats cooling off, which is what caused the low chalk tonight. There was a plethora of one offs from all different rosters. Even the chalk was from many teams tonight.
- Here’s a tidbit for #FreebieFriday that our VIP members only see. Which of the two based on numbers would you want to play tonight?
The top one, right? Well he went undrafted, except to me where he’s on 100% of my teams. The top score belongs to Trevor Story while the bottom is Nolan Arenado. Both a great play, but Story is hitting better lately and he’s someone you can grab usually uncontested.
- OF has the most scarcity for very high end value, but not by much. Players in all positions shouldn’t be an issue tonight.
