Ok, let’s get into this.  In honor of the slate this week, I’m going to hit you with a different format.  Gameweek 37, part deux… Leggo!

Forwards

Harry Kane: Newcastle has given up 17 chances from the center in their last 4 matches.  Compare that to 11 chances from the wings. Forwards have had their share of success.  The top 3 in shots over the last 4 games is Kane (13), Eriksen (12), Son and Alli (5) are tied for third.  Kane has had 9 of those 13 in the box and, of the 44 shots Newcastle has given up, 30 have come from in the box.  This is a long-winded way of saying the numbers, and the match, favor the Tottenham gameplan of feed Kane early and often.  You can fire him up in any format you wish.

Jamie Vardy: Arsenal centerbacks have had their shortcomings this season and Jamie Vardy has enjoyed plenty of success against the big clubs.  With such big favorites on the schedule, you will likely see bigger money sunk into players from bigger squads. GPP play.

Midfielders

Kevin De Bruyne: It’s simple. Man City will have too much possession. He is the one directing the play.  With so much possession and a depressed price, he makes a solid choice in cash games. You might worry about him coming off in the 67th minute last game.  Normally, I would say you should make sure your players go 90, but this slate can absorb him on less than full usage. Brighton only enjoyed 21% of the possession last time and that was at Brighton.  Man City is looking to break the Premier League scoring record and he will have a big say in how that happens.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: Leicester has shown a vulnerability to the attacking right.  I expect him to line up on the right with options to his left. Arsenal has found plenty of success with Aubameyang and Lacazette on the pitch at the same time.  Leicester has struggled in their last 6 matches with a negative 7 goal differential. With the defense preoccupied with those two, I think this is a good opportunity for Mkhi to come away with one. I would lean GPP with him.

Defenders

Emerson Palmieri: Emerson could draw the start and if so it gives them a creative option on the left side of the formation.  Huddersfield has been very defensive lately and that should mean an uptick in opportunity for Chelsea. Huddersfield has not given up much in terms of goals, however, so that makes me want to use him more in cash.  I would expect him to be a popular pick if he starts.

Chris Schindler: This is for you FD folks out there.  If we see Huddersfield deploy more of a defensive lineup, expect him to have numerous opportunities for clearances. He will be a busy boy in the back today, if so.

There you have it.  This has been a little look inside the gameweek. You might notice that I left out keepers this week.  I am saving my keeper picks (and the rest of my cash and GPP picks) for the DFS Army VIPs. If you are not a VIP, scroll back up to the top of the article and follow the links.  We love us some midweek soccer and the #Soccer-Talk channel should be hopping. You won’t be disappointed.
