NBA DFS NO GORTAT THURSDAY 4-19

Shoutout to Dolfan13 who took down the 2 game slate with 1 entry for $25,000!  Enjoy the swag bag brother!  Gerald Green For The Win!!!  Playoffs have been really good so far for the Army except for Gortat Day.  Yep, I’m still upset about it.  Let’s get to it!

Give me a follow on TWITTER

Point Guards:

Damian Lillard (9600/8900): I have been off Lillard for his first two games because of how the Pelicans defense him.  Not tonight though.  I am all in on Dame Dolla.  Adjustments will be made.  We saw yesterday that sometimes numbers don’t really matter and you need to just buy into the human element of some things.  What I mean by that is Lebron James.  It didn’t matter what the Pacers did, or how well they usually defend LBJ…He took over.  Damian will do the same thing tonight.  He will shoot the ball 30 times if he has to.  He will not let his team go down 0-3.  Lillard is the type of player who always loves playing on the road.  He thrives in hostile environments.  Don’t overthink this play.  Lock it in.

Rajon Rondo (7000/7400): Playoff Rondo.  He’s not 8k yet so I will keep playing him.  Take that for data.

Goran Dragic (6300 on both): He’s been extremely mediocre as of late but I need to mention him.  It’s obvious the above two guys are going to be extremely chalky so you do need a pivot of some sort.  Dragic is capable of outscoring Rondo at 1/3 the ownership.  Do I think he does it?  Probably not, but he is capable of doing it.

Patty Mills (4800/4300): This is a beautiful value play on DK.  On FD, I will have a hard time getting off the top two guys.  The Spurs are going to come out emotional and give everything they have to get a win tonight for POP.  Towards the end of the last game, Patty started finding his stroke and feeling more confident.  This is where you go to get value, and on DK with position diversity, he is a great option.

Honorable Mentions: Tony Parker – He will have a game where he gets 20-25.  This is where you can go if you want to try and be different.  Keep in mind, he is more than likely to get you 2-5 points than 20-25 points.  Every Spur will come out emotional tonight to play for POP.  I see Tony elevating his game tonight.  I also don’t think Turner plays – So either Pat C or Napier will see more minutes.  Both are interesting options if you choose to do the 2 game slate.  I don’t see the need to try doing this via the main slate.

Shooting Guards:

Jrue Holiday (8400/7900): For whatever reason people just don’t roster Jrue that much.  Some Stigma about him I guess?  All he does is win you GPPs.  Tonight, he can do it again.  However, I do think his ownership will be much higher.  He is capable of dropping 50 again.  Jrue will have his way again as Portland will keep focusing on stopping AD and Mirotic.  It’ll be up to Jrue to beat them again and he is very capable of doing that.  Here is how I will approach this game.  If you think the Pelicans will win tonight you play Jrue.  He will get 50+ if they win.  If you think Portland will win tonight fade Jrue.  This means he will get like 30-35.  That is how I am approaching playing Jrue tonight.

Klay Thompson (6500/6800): The Spurs will keep trying to stop Durant the best they can opening up plenty of shots for Klay.  I love Klay here and if he can just add some ancillary stats he can finally have that 50 point game we’ve been waiting for.  He has been shooting lights out and that doesn’t stop tonight.  Go get a steal or two Klay!

Dwayne Wade (4900/5400): You’d think they would increase his price more, wouldn’t you?  If this game stays competitive, expect much of the same from Dwade.  He will be the chalky value option and rightfully so.  I love him here.  This series will be competitive and Wade will continue to see his price rise.  This price is still a discount.

Manu Ginobili (4500/4100): He’s been with the Spurs organization since 2002 and this is likely his last year.  Manu is going to have a blowup game and the narrative screams it will be tonight.  His upside is capped a bit but I love him here for narrative reasons.  He could still have an amazing game, or make an amazing three to win the game and not necessarily blow up dfs wise…so I do hold some constraint here.  An amazing game for Manu is like 25-30 Fantasy.  The above 3 mentioned have much higher upside.  I have a feeling a lot of people might be on Manu tonight and inflate his ownership.

Honorable Mentions: JJ Redick and Marco Belinelli.  These two are literally the same player.  They both get the same amount of minutes typically and do the same thing.  I lean towards JJ more than Marco but it really is a coin flip between the two.  Wayne Ellington is your lower ownership play for tonight that has the ability to get hot.  He played much better defense last game which should allow him to get a few extra minutes.  Pat Connaughton is an interesting play as well if Turner doesn’t suit up.  It’s either him or Napier who gets extra minutes.  This risk is more designed for the 2 game after hours.

Small Forwards:

Kevin Durant (11000/10300): Durant will get his tonight, but will it be enough to really win you a GPP?  Even the best lineup on Fanduel last night didn’t have Lebron and he lit it up with 70.  KD is going to continue to casually get you 45-55.  I will be around 40% KD.  I don’t plan on going too heavy on him tonight.  I like the value at SF tonight.

Rudy Gay (5900/5100): Way too cheap on DK, and still affordable on FD.  He is your best bang for your buck for mid-tier SFs tonight.  He is starting now and doing everything he can to get his team a win.  Back to Back 30 point games and has 40+ upside if he starts hitting 3s.

Josh Richardson (5800/5500): Jrich proved that he is needed for the Heat to win, not Winslow.  Winslow provides better defense against Simmons, but JRich provides offense.  That is essentially what we care about in DFS, right?  If Jrich plays well, he stays on the court and will produce for us like he did last time.  I see this game staying competitive, and that raises Richardson’s floor.  I like him slightly behind Rudy Gay and don’t mind pairing them both up.

Andre Iguodala (4600/4800): Great Game Andre!  He was in the winning lineup on FD last time out.  His price is still too cheap.  I love his new role as a starter and he has shown to keep giving you about 15 per half.  There was only one half where he did nothing, and that was game 1 where he kind of hurt himself and the game was a blowout.

Mo Harkless (3600/4200): This price is robbery.  Turner has a toe injury and I won’t be surprised if he sits.  This will lead to more minutes for Harkless at near min price.  He is my top value play on the board.  If I hear Turner is definitely not playing I might have to just go all in here.

Honorable Mentions: Justice Winslow – He could have a bounce-back game and will be lower owned due to that stinkbomb he just dropped.  He had a really bad game in both the DFS world and on the court.  I’ll go here for ownership purposes, but I will have very little Winslow.

Power Forwards: This position is loaded!

Anthony Davis (12700/10900): Too expensive for me on FD.  I won’t be playing much or any AD there.  On DK, he is in play.  I prefer him over KD for just 600 more.  We all know what AD is capable of.  Portland is going to keep throwing the kitchen sink at him though lowering his upside.

LaMarcus Aldridge (10000/9400): LMA is my favorite PF tonight.  His usage is the same as AD’s at 30 percent.  He will see plenty of opportunities and I think he is just too cheap here.  I don’t see how he doesn’t get to 50 if this game stays close.  I’m close to all-in here.

Ben Simmons (10200 on both): He is my 2nd favorite PF behind LMA.  However, Miami is doing a pretty good job of slowing him down.  You don’t have to pay up for Simmons tonight.  I’ll have some Simmons, but I will be pairing up some of the value PFs up with him that have huge upside.

Nikola Mirotic (8000/7000): I can see Mirotic getting forgotten about with how loaded this position is tonight.  Anytime you can get a guy with 50 point upside at lower ownership you take it.

Draymond Green (7300/7500): How many of you swore of Draymond once he got into foul trouble?  Well, they lowered his price again.  I didn’t like him too much at 8k, but loved him at 7k.  Now he is right in the middle.  I won’t have tons of Draymond tonight with how loaded this position is, but I won’t be ignoring him either.

Al-Farouq Aminu (5500/5300): His price bumped up a bit where he isn’t a must play anymore.  The nice thing about Aminu is he doesn’t need to get points to do his damage.  He hit 32 Fantasy last game out and didn’t even record a block or steal.  Portland is in must-win territory.  Aminu did collect a lot of his points when Nurkic sat out the 2nd half.  Lots of open rebounds were available to him.

Honorable Mentions: James Johnson and KellyO are quietly playing consistently and will get overlooked.  Ed Davis will be super low owned.

Centers:

Joel Embiid (9200/8800): I don’t see how he doesn’t play tonight.  He is under 10k and has 60 point upside.  His first playoff game.  His ownership will be lower than normal too.  How can you not take a shot here tonight?

Jusuf Nurkic (7500/6200): He has shown flashes of being able to put up some points and they really do need Nurkic to win.  If he can just stay consistent for the time he is on the floor he could easily get to 40.  He is a sexy option on DK.  He will get overlooked now with Embiid playing.

Hassan Whiteside (5500/5400): It’s time gentleman.  Embiid is probable.  Load up Whiteside.

JaVale McGee (3600/3800): I am surprised they dropped his price after his last game.  Keep an eye out to see if he plays.  If he does I love him in this spot.  Near Min Price and has shown 30 point upside.

Pau Gasol (4700/4500):  Pau is good for 15-25 but that is about it.  He doesn’t close games out.  I’m not a huge fan here of him…

Honorable Mentions: Zach Collins – he is seeing 20 minutes regularly now.  He won’t be as sneaky as before but he will be lower owned than the rest.  I’d rather play him, to be honest, over Pau Gasol.  They have the same role and he is cheaper.
