Kickin it on the Pitch w/ TreyJ – Gameweek 30 EPL DFS for Draftkings and Fanduel

Let’s open this article by me apologizing for leaving my adoring fans high and dry.  I was without power due to a storm. Hopefully, my colleagues treated you kindly. Thanks to @Initobinkit and @theDFSniper for covering me.  I am back, I am sober (at least for now), and ready to cook for gameweek 30.

This actually looks like a fun slate so let’s dive in.

West Brom v Leicester

If you are just joining us in playing some Premier League soccer, West Brom sucks.  They are just in a bad way overall, but at least they are home. Nice familiar pubs to drown your sorrows and a short walk home to lay your head.  The long and short of it with them is they can’t score (3.2% goal conversion over last 3 games), they don’t shoot (avg of 9 shots over last 3 games), and when they do they can’t hit the broadside of a barn (22.2% SOG in last 3).  At least they are home.

Actually, being home has been somewhat sneaky good for West Brom.  At home, they score goals off set pieces. They have 8 of them compared to 5 from open play.  Pair that with Leicester being a terrible team on the road vs set pieces. They have conceded 10 of them.  With how bad West Brom has been, I may tend to turn towards a good Aerial threat and hope for the best, perhaps a Salomon Rondon or a big defender.

I personally want to be on the Leicester side of this match.  The only way to make this a better spot would be to put Leicester at home.  No matter. West Brom is giving up chances all over the place, but most notably from the attacking left and the center.  If they come out in their 4-4-1-1 formation, I am led right to Jamie Vardy.  Forwards have done well recently against West Brom, but I understand if you like other forwards better.  If I am not going to Vardy, I am jumping on Marc Albrighton.  Leicester should play through whichever side steers them away from Krychowiak and his defense.  That should be Albrighton’s side which would leave him free to make runs in the box.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace

This is a week where there will be higher than normal ownership on the hammer match.  You have a Crystal Palace team that struggles on the road and if Zaha can’t pass his late fitness test, should have very little punch against a Chelsea team that is showing some signs of life despite the very tough stretch of games they went through in all competitions. The only person I could ever think about playing for Palace would be the keeper, and that’s only as an ownership leverage play in case Chelsea are looking past Palace to their road match @ FC Barcelona on Tues.

For Chelsea, I am looking at midfielders.  Eden Hazard or Willian are both solid options.  Palace has conceded the 5th most raw total goals to home side midfielders.  If you are playing Chelsea, you are not looking to differentiate yourself from the field.  That is what you want to do elsewhere on the slate. All the big names are off the main slate, so go nuts.

Best of the Rest

This is the part of the show where we highlight some cash plays for the games we didn’t really get a chance to talk about or the best cash plays left on the slate.

  • Dwight Gayle, NEW – Over the past 3 weeks, Gayle is tied with Kane for most expected goals.  Southampton has given up the 8th most adjusted shots to forwards.

  • J Berg Gudmundsson, BUR – Burnley is gritty on the road with a 4-6-4 record.  They fight for those points. I like them to collect some points on the road at West Ham who has conceded the most goals at home to Mids.

  • Ryan Bertrand, SOU – Newcastle conceded a lot of crosses.  I expect JWP to be back in on the right. If so, the balance comes from Bertrand. He also may steal some set-piece opportunities.

Between the Sticks

Here are my choices (outside of the Courtois cash play) for Goalkeepers.  If you are a regular reader of mine, then you know I like going for the saves.

  1. Nick Pope, BUR – Burnley has given up their fair share of shots and West Ham has been very accurate, despite relatively few attempts. Cash play for me on FD. Any format on DK.

  1. Jordan Pickford, EVE – Brighton is shooting a lot lately (accurately) and this is seeming like the low game of the slate.  GPP

  1. Wayne Hennessey, CPL – More of an FD GPP play.  Will see high volume and CP can’t attack, so they might as well defend.

If you read this article and you said “Wow, these stats are cool. I didn’t know that before.”, then know that they are only the tip of the iceberg and there is so much more inside our VIP Team sheets.  You will find massive stats and our new defense-by-position chart, as well as my player picks, and more.
