Schnarr’s Super Picks DraftKings and FanDuel PGA Preview – The Masters

Every week of the year the PGA Tour plays on a new course. There are some examples in other DFS Sports of environments impacting performance, such as Coors Field in Baseball; Golf, however, offers an entirely unique environment each and every week. This article will break down the week’s PGA course and attempt to find what skill sets are needed for success. This article will then combine the course breakdown with the DFS Army Domination Station & VIP Research Station and give a few players to target on DraftKings and FanDuel in both Cash Game and GPP formats. For more updates throughout the week follow me on twitter @_bschnarr

Congratulations to DFS Army members catcountry21 and stiff_newf_77 on their GPP wins yesterday!

Houston Open Review

Jordan Spieth – Top End GPP – T3

As I said in my article last week, when you can guy a top end player under owned and underpriced you should be all over it. While I thought Spieth would be owned slightly less than his 12.9% in the $4 GPP he still came in as the 4th lowest owned player with a salary over $9000. If you played Spieth it payed off for you as he finished with the 4th most fantasy points on both DraftKings and FanDuel and the most points for any player priced above $9000.

Russell Henley – Cash Games – T8

Henley continued to dominate at the Houston Open by posting another top ten finish. For his price with the course history there was no reason to avoid Henley in cash game formats this week.

Thomas Pieters – DraftKings Value – T52

If you played Pieters he gave you quite the scare on Friday but was ultimately able to make the cut and put up some birdies on the weekend.

Luke List – FanDuel Value – T24

The price tag for me was a little too much on DraftKings given the expected ownership but on FanDuel List was practically a free square. The rest of the field agreed as List averaged over 46% ownership across major GPP’s. List had the 16th best fantasy output on FanDuel and could still easily be paired with Spieth given his salary.

Course Preview

This week I am going to try something new this week. With The Masters being played at Augusta and 84 years of history there is no shortage of information about the course and the type of players that have had success. I’ll save my thoughts for members in our Slack Chat. The same members also get access to field adjusted statistics, a more accurate measure of where a player has been gaining/losing strokes than what the PGA Tour website provides. If you were on the fence about joining the DFS Army there is no better time than now.

Picks

Jordan Spieth – Top End – DK: $10400 FD: $11000

All season there have been concerns about Jordan Spieth and his inability to finish at the top of leaderboards. Despite finishing in the top 20 in six of eight events prior to the Houston Open people were used to seeing more out of Spieth. With his T3 finish at the Houston Open all of the concerns about form should be thrown out the window. As far as course history goes you really cannot get much better than Spieth at Augusta. Four appearances, one win, two second place finishes and an 11th place performance make Spieth incredibly hard to fade at Augusta.

Henrik Stenson – DraftKings Value – DK: $7800 FD: $10700

Fresh off of a missed cut for Stenson the DraftKings pricing for The Masters was released. With an up and down season Stenson still seemed underpriced given what we know he can do. In his following appearances Stenson has finished 4th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T6 at the Houston Open. Now given recent performances Stenson seems extremely underpriced and should be incredibly high owned but he may just be worth it

Patrick Cantlay – All Formats – DK: $7600 FD: $9300

Ever since his return in 2017 Cantlay has still not missed a cut in 20 events. This season Cantlay is still waiting for his breakout performance but I think his game really lines up well for Augusta (I’ll be going into this more in our Slack Chat).

Adam Hadwin – All Formats – DK: $7200 FD: $9700

We are used to seeing soft pricing on DraftKings during a major and this week is no different. The $7K range is loaded with talent and Hadwin sees himself underpriced at the bottom end salary wise of the group. Hadwin has been playing great golf as of late we three straight tournaments finishing no worse than T12. Hadwin has taken a few weeks off leading into the event but that should not concern anyone as it was personal choice and in no way related to injuries.

*As always, this article is published as a first look, things change leading up to lock and SlackChat should be checked as thoughts are changed when new information arises.*
