JD’s Junk Yard Dogs for Draftkings NHL DFS Cash games on Friday Feb 2nd 2018

My Junk Yard Dogs is about pointing out value players for your cash line up builds that give you floor, but also leave you Cap room to pay up at other positions.  They are often those low cost players who are the punts……or Junk …..of the possible options on today’s slate.

The theory behind this is based on @choppodong’s Bottom Up line-up building videos as well as his new video for people new to hockey DFS, which if you haven’t watched you really should. You can find them here ( YouTube ). For more detailed versions, join dfsarmy.com‘s VIP program and gain full access.

I am not one of the coaches but am really just sharing my own research and trying and give back to this community which has helped me out. This is focused on cash games on DK.

Remember, for value we are looking for players hitting about .6 points or more per $1000 in price in at least 6 of their last 10 games, as well as being lower on the cost scale. This isn’t to say there aren’t value players at higher cost, but the purpose of this article is to help you find those cheaper plays that leave you lot of cap room to fit in those studs you want. Team stats are coming the NHL Research Station under the NHL tab at dfsarmy.com

Defense

For cheap value defense the main thing we look for is floor.  This comes from consistency and for D in particular, their blocked shots ( BS) and shots on goal ( SOG).  D can often reach value on those stats alone, thus goals and assists are almost bonus value.

Cole (Pit) $3200  Cole has an avg of 3.2  Dk pts/game over his last ten, and hit his value mark in 8 of those games.  He is averaging 2.35 pts/game from SOGBS alone. The stats would appear to be in the Penguins favor as their recent Corsi for numbers have them second in the league, though recently Washington has jumped up to 14th from their season long ranking of 23rd.

Slavin( Car)$3600 is averaging 2.8 DK pts/game with 2.25 from BS and SOG.  He hit value in 6 of 10.  He is on the PP2. Both Carolina and Detroit are struggling lately on offence, with their goal scoring notably down.  On Defense both teams have reduced their goals against recently as well so there is a good chance this game hits the Under 5.5 goals.  Slavin’s solid floor is worth considering because of that.

Other plays:  Savard ( Cbs)  Brodin ( Min)  Engelland  ( VGK)

Centre

Rask (Car) $4000 is averaging 3 DK points/game hitting value in 7 of the last 10. As discussed above with this game it is likely leaning to the under.  But if you are looking for cheap exposure to the Carolina offense this is a good place for it.

Eller ( Was) $3800 is averaging 3.4 DK pts/game hitting value in 7 of his last 10.  While the team stats and implied team total lean Pittsburgh’s way, remember these are rarely 1-0 type games.  Eller is providing solid floor for exposure to this game if you want to pay up in other games.  He also is on the PP2.

Other plays: Glendenning (Det)  (on here more because of his $3000 price tag than strong expectations)

Wingers

Donskoi ( SJ) $3400 has an avg of 3.2 Dk pts/game, with about half of that coming from SOGBS.  He hit value in 7 of the last 10.  He also is getting PP2 time.  This is another game where both teams are struggling to win lately, giving up more goals than normal, though SJ has been scoring more of late as well. If you are paying up in other games, Donskoi is a cheap way to get exposure to the Sharks offense.

Hagelin ( Pit) $3500 is averaging 3 dk pts per game, hitting value in 6 of 10.  Though he isnt on the PP, he is on a line with Malkin and Horqvist.  As seems to be a theme today, if you choose to pay up in another game, Hagelin is your cheap exposure to this game.

Williams ( Car) $4300  is averaging 3.4 dk points per game, with just under half coming from SOGBS.  He has hit value in 9 of his last 10 which is pretty incredible.  He also gets PP2 time.   It is worth considering using him as a one off and paying up in other games.

Other Plays: Foligno (Cbs)

Also look for  Flynnie’s Forecheck  and Chopodong’s breakdown for more info on the slate.  Good luck tonight and see you in Slackchat
