Normally, I would break down the biggest games of the weeks so you can find your cash and core players.  This week, we are gonna leave off the Man City game because you gotta play it and I don’t need to waste words on it.  Let’s see what else gameweek 19 has in store for us.

Southampton v Huddersfield

Southampton is somewhat wild with their shots and they can be a little unpredictable with their results.  So here is what I do like about them. Charlie Austin.  Last week they gave Gabbiadini the start and the team were unable to get him the ball in 61 minutes for legit chances.  Austin comes in and gets 3 shots.  He has been their best attacker all season and, if Southampton is smart, they will give them a start.  Huddersfield also has given up the 2nd most goals to forwards on the road.

Swansea v Crystal Palace

This is a spot where I am not sure if enough people will go.  I like Palace in this matchup and, more importantly, I like Wilfried Zaha in this one.  Palace should go back to the lineup they used with Benteke out.  He is out again.  Zaha should end up as the focal point of the offense.  Swansea gives up a lot of chances on their right (attacking left).  It’s like the stars are aligning. Zaha also presents somewhat of an issue price-wise, so you will need to be creative to get him in there.  Remember, you are already needing to find salary to get Manchester City in.  Palace gets a huge benefit in playing their starters as much as they can handle, given that they don’t play again until Thursday, unlike the other teams on this slate.

Best of the Rest

There are some solid cash plays available and that is what this section will focus on.

  • Jay Rodriguez, WBA – If he takes his regular spot in the lineup he will find himself matched up against the weaker side of the Stoke defense.  Rodriguez is the man in their offense and he should be able to get going against a defense responsible for allowing multiple goals in 2 of their last 3 matches.

  • Xherdan Shaqiri, STK – This looks to be a back and forth match and it should set up nicely for him.  He has been doing everything but scoring for this team and even if he doesn’t remedy that, he could have a nice return on peripherals alone.

  • Janmaat, WAT – Brighton will be attacking his side of the pitch quite often (41% of the time) and is quite active both offensively and defensively.

Between the Sticks

Here are my choices for GPP Goalkeeper.  If you are a regular reader of mine, then you know I like going for the saves.

  1. Ben Foster, WBA – Stoke has given up the most goals on the slate, in the last 3 matches and they get a team who has only scored 1 goal in its last 3 matches.  I don’t think this is a spot many will go to.  It is hard to argue with recent form and, of these 2 teams, I see West Brom playing the way you should.
  2. Nick Pope, BUR – Tottenham should win the shot battle in this one.  Shots are opportunities for saves.  He will be a popular play but I am not too worried about keeper ownership on this slate.  There is inherent save upside anytime you play Tottenham.
  3. Joe Hart, WHU – West Ham is playing very confidently right now and it’s amazing the turnaround they have had.  Newcastle will shoot, but they are somewhat inaccurate.
