Each week I will break down the biggest games of the weeks so you can find your cash and core players.  I will even throw in some GPP plays.  Let’s see what Gameweek 13 has in store for us.

Manchester United v Brighton

Man United comes into this game with a +18 goal differential at home. All likelihood points to United putting up a crooked number and that bold well for us in anchoring our squads.  In a matchup like this, I could feel pretty comfortable in starting with Pogba. Brighton spends the most time of any team in their defending third.  Man U will dictate the game on their own and Brighton is just being complicit in their demise.

Sticking on Pogba’s side of the pitch, I will have some real interest in whoever is starting at Attacking Right Midfielder.  Brighton has shown to be a bit vulnerable on that side of their defense.  Usually, you will see Mata over there but he moved into the middle last game so we will see how they all line up.  On Fanduel, I think the Brighton centerbacks are in play; and you can even sprinkle some Mat Ryan in, as we have seen keepers be viable options at Old Trafford.

Swansea v Bournemouth

The thing I love about this match is that we have a team, in Swansea, that has been a little unlucky in terms of goals scored and another, in Bournemouth, that has been a little fortunate in goals conceded. I don’t fear going back to Callum Wilson who has been fantastic in his return. His ownership will be a little inflated after his hattie last week. I don’t think it is chasing the points, though.  With his body of work, he is a borderline cash play in this matchup.  Swansea has given up 6 goals to forwards at home.  That is tied for most in the league.

This match actually sets up well for forwards on both sides.  For Swansea, I am looking towards the forwards in GPPs but I think Sam Clucas sets up well in this type of match.  He is on set piece duty and is tied for 9th in the league in crosses over the last 3 matches. He is better used on Draftkings because he hasn’t been doing much else aside from some crosses.

Liverpool v Chelsea

Finally, we’ve gotten to the game of the week. I like Liverpool to take this one.  This should be a pace down game for both teams.  The early portion should be plodding and feeling each other out.  I expect Chelsea to slow the pace down as much as they can by clogging the middle of the pitch.  My guess is we see a 3-5-1-1 to give Salah and Mane less space to run through the middle.  By doing so, the game should run more through Philippe Coutinho sending loads of crosses with Roberto Firmino in mind.  Chelsea can score on them, although not many have, and I would expect it to be done by a midfielder.  Unless you have a beat, I don’t think it’s worth it.

Best of the Rest

There are some solid cash plays available and that is what this section will focus on.

  • Christian Eriksen, TOT – Tottenham has struggled to score lately but getting West Brom is certainly a cure for that.  Give me the guy who will be quarterbacking this home favorite.

  • Yohan Cabaye, CP – We have a pace-up situation for Palace and he is cemented as the facilitator

  • DeAndre Yedlin, NEW – Very solid cash play. He does everything you need but put the ball in the net.

Between the Sticks

Here are my choices for GPP Goalkeeper.  If you are a regular reader of mine, then you know I like going for the saves.  I think this is a week where I shoot for that on DK, too.  If I happen to get the W, then yay bonus.

  1. Heurelho Gomes, WAT – This guy secures the top spot on DK because he is the cheapest keeper who I think can get a W.

  1. Mat Ryan, BHA – We have seen many wonderful performances from visiting keepers at Old Trafford.  He will be peppered with shots

.

  1. Thibaut Courtois, CHE – If Chelsea can successfully clog the middle of the field, it will slow Liverpool’s attacking punch.  He is very cheap in a tough matchup, but low owned with upside.

If you read this article and you said “Wow, these stats are cool. I didn’t know that before.”, then know that they are only the tip of the iceberg and there is so much more inside our VIP team sheets.  You will find massive stats and our new defense-by-position chart, as well as my player picks, and more.  Join us and take your game to the next level. See you in slack and good luck in your contests!
