PlayDraft DFS NFL Week 6 VIP Strategy and Player Picks

PlayDraft DFS NFL Week 6 VIP Strategy and Player Picks by UW81

Similar to your everyday picks and plays in DFS, your play draft Head to Head matchups are going to follow the same logic.

  • High scoring totals from explosive offenses
  • RB at home have a general advantage
  • Game Script

There are two major differences between Snake Drafts and DFS you need to consider:

  • There is no need to hunt for value
  • Every player you pick represents 20% of your total team, which makes stacking less valuable and correlated than in DFS.

This week have a little different thought process to go through and more to consider with Wide Receivers this week. Julio Jones a little banged up and no one knows if he’ll be limited or not. Nelson has the Rhodes factor. Brown in on the road and Roethlisberger not being the greatest the past few weeks. Thomas being shadowed by Slay. This means your top options, your go-to juggernauts of point scoring, are all going up against difficult matchups on paper this week.

QB

– Watson (#1 chalk of the week)

– Rodgers (Always good)

– Brady (Always good)

RB:

– Hunt (#1)

– Fournette (#2)

– Bell (Worst of the best, can fade)

– Gordon (Better spot than Gurley)

– Gurley

– Freeman (sprinkling)

WR:

– Hopkins (Must pick)

– Jones (If healthy, #2)

– Brown (Road)

– Nelson (Rhodes)

– Thomas (Slay)

– Allen

Picking first strategy:

Grab Hunt. Has the highest ceiling of all the RB this week and it’s been a RB carry year for points. Yes, QBs are historically scoring the most points week in and week out, but you only get to draft one and any of the top 3 are just fine. RB, not so much. It gets a little more sticky after 1-2. If you go Bell, you’re fading Brown. If you go Gordon, you’re fading Allen. So fading hunt for pick one isn’t something I would recommend this week. Here’s where you’ll fork for pick three and four:

    • Fork one: If they grab both Fournette and Hopkins, you’re looking at a few options. RB/WR for picks 3 and 4 are the best options so you’re only locked out of RB. In this spot, I have gone heavily to Bell and Jones. Even with Jones being questionable, Sanu is out, the latest news says he’s ok, so I’m not stopping my push on him this week. The people I have drafted against have been going the same route.
    • Fork two: Double WR. Locking your opponent out of the top picks in WR is also acceptable this week. Picking first forces you to lock yourself out of either RB or WR picking first.
    • Fork three: The Pittsburg trap. Skip bell and Brown both and hope your opponent drafts both. In 30% of the drafts I’m in this week, I’m playing against someone who’s stacked them both. On paper, they’re in a tough matchup on the road, but they’re generally considered matchup proof players. However, anything can happen in football and that’s why I always strongly suggest not stacking at all in H2H matchups on Draft.

Picking second strategy:

I found myself picking second in 60% of my drafts. Assuming hunt is off the board, it’s an easy Fournette and hopkins 2-3 pick up. Why not Bell? See above. Trapping your opponents into poor decisions is crucial on this site and it’s not hard to do. I will mention however you won’t go wrong going Bell and Hopkins either. I like Bell better than Brown this week since they’re on the road. Real decisions start on pick 6-7

  • Strategy One: To QB or not to QB. Apparently people have read my starting article and a QB came off of the board before the last pick one time out of 40ish drafts and that was a guy picking Rodgers first. He also went on to stack with Nelson and Cobb, so who knows. While this may not apply every week, it does again this week. Wait on the QB. Watson, Brady, Rodgers are solid again this week.

  • Strategy Two: Lockout whatever your opponent hasn’t this week. There are a lot of last round tricky plays and it really comes down to feel this week since so many WR are in bad paper matchups and the bottom few RB are a toss up on which one to grab. Since by this round your opponent has given you a free square in either RB or WR, don’t return the favor.
  • Strategy Three: Ignore the top end of my WR picks and dive down deeper to smarter plays. Examples: Fade Gordon and grab Allen. Understand Nelson is in a difficult CB matchup and grab Cobb. Evans is a target hog in a bad paper match up who doesn’t perform well vs. stronger CBs but still sees 10+ targets regardless. I have sprinklings of all these players throughout my drafts myself.

I’ll be around in Slack Sunday morning if you have any specific questions. Just @ me so I can sift through everything. Good luck in your H2H matchups this week
