Kickin it on the Pitch w/ TreyJ – EPL DFS for gameweek 8 on Fanduel and Draftkings

For a round ball, it can sure take some funny bounces.  When I looked into the slate, future funny bounces is what I see.  That could lead you to think of this as a GPP type week.  Most of you play soccer as a GPP sport anyway.  That is why I am going to help you with your cash game strategy this week.  I will still have GPP player picks in my  VIP team sheets; but, where we have the time today to assess our cash options for this slate, I am going to use it wisely.  I hope you will, too.

If this is your first time playing or if you are wondering how you can balance your research for the premier league with your research for NFL, NBA, NHL, and more; then you need to enlist in the DFS Army and we will help you with that knowledge. Each week, we will provide many stats and game odds, inside our team sheets, designed to help you understand what a team is trying to accomplish.

The DFS Army NFL Research Station just dropped and it’s pure fire. It’s complete with everything you need to crush NFL DFS, so this is literally THE time to join.  NBA is upon us and the Domination Station is locked and loaded. Come for the ever so popular slack chat where you have access to industry pros and specific DFS coaches. Use promo code GOAL for 20% off your lifetime subscription (normally $29) and start taking your DFS game to the next level!

If you are wary and wish to try us out, check out these options that could get you a free month of the DFS Army!

Each week I will break down the biggest games of the weeks so you can find your cash and core players.  I will even throw in some GPP plays.  Let’s see what Gameweek 8 has in store for us.

Manchester City v Stoke City

Let’s start this off with the most lopsided affair on the slate.  You will want need a piece of this game.  There is no need to get cute here.  Stoke knows they have no shot here and will probably just sit back and defend, as if they will have a choice. Do not forget that Stoke’s back line sucks.  When the dust settles, the board should read 3 or 4 to 0.  While they tend to overwhelm their opponents, Man City is always a GPP team because they have weapons galore.

Whenever you have a team that is slated to score 3 or more goals, you need to start with the forwards.  In this case, that should be Gabriel Jesus. Aguero I do not think will be ready to go come gameday, which makes Jesus a viable cash/core play.  He will be super high owned, so don’t look to him to save your GPP lineups.  Actually, everyone will have decent ownership here, so just make your best play and differentiate elsewhere.  I will likely be in on Raheem Sterling.  He is actually second on the team in shots taken in the last 3 games.

I think it goes without saying (but I’m gonna say it anyway) I am not playing anyone on Stoke.  It just isn’t worth it.

Crystal Palace v Chelsea

Things have not gone well for Crystal Palace this season.  What started with so much hope and fervor has morphed into a lot of woe and befuddlement.  There isn’t too much to hope for in this one if you are a Palace fan, except hoping that everyone stays healthy.  The good news is that Zaha could be back for this match. The bad news is that Benteke still isn’t fit. Until those two get on the pitch at the same time, I fear Palace will still remain at 0 goals scored on the season.

For Chelsea, the ability to blow this game wide open could rest on whether Morata is healthy enough to feature.  Chelsea is still talented enough up front to put up a crooked number, but not crooked enough that Palace is disheartened, I think.  If you are looking for a cash play out of this game, then jump in slack because we will dissect it morning of. My early call for a cash play would be Cesc Fabregas. Kante is out, so he looks a virtual lock to start and take set pieces and corners. Their formation and personnel are up in the air, however, and Antonio Conte has quite the decision on his hands.

Tottenham v Bournemouth

This game intrigues me but not for the reasons you might think.  My thoughts on this game will be for our VIPs, so join us and get the full scoop.

Best of the Rest

I have more cash/core plays but they don’t come from games that warrant a full write-up.  I mean I don’t want to keep you here all day discussing the ins and outs of Swansea v Huddersfield. That’s where this section comes in handy.  It does feel like a GPP week, but being able to crush a cash contest is necessary for bankroll management.

Aaron Mooy or Tom Ince, HUD

There is a slight chance that Mooy doesn’t start.  He had a late return from international duty and they will need to assess his fitness level.  If he doesn’t start, Tom Ince is next in line for set pieces and corners and he should cross from open play a little.  I actually think Huddersfield maintains slightly more possession and possession leads to opportunity.

Aaron Cresswell, WHU

Manuel Lanzini should be ready to go but I don’t think he will grossly eat into Cresswell’s production.  In the past 3 games, Cresswell has 39 crosses.  That is a cross every 6.9 mins! I also expect that West Ham will have a little more possession than they have seen on the road this season.  I am not saying that they will dominate the possession but it should be more even than they are used to.  Cresswell should be able to make cash value on Draftkings in this matchup.

Richarlison, WAT

He just continues to return a result. Arsenal is dealing with some injuries on the back line and if there is anyone on this squad who can exploit that, it’s Richarlison.  In the last 3 games, Richarlison has been involved in 75% of Watford’s goals. The offense is running through him and he should make a fine cash play on Fanduel, although he could be used on Draftkings too if you don’t mind that he won’t cross.

Between the Sticks

Here are my choices for Goalkeeper

  1. Asmir Begovic, BOU (Both) – Tottenham shoots a ton, especially at home.  The number of saves he could see could be worth the goals that will given up.  If you aren’t playing for the W on Draftkings (we don’t chase clean sheets here), then he could provide solid value for his price. This is my top GPP Keeper option.

  1. Lukas Fabianski, SWA (FD) – Huddersfield shoots more than Swansea does, so my pick in this one is Fabianski.  Swansea’s defense is legit and they should be missing Renato Sanchez.  That should afford Huddersfield a bit more possession in the midfield.  I think this is a low scoring affair and it is a bit uncertain who comes out on top.  I will take the goalie with more save upside.

I think Ederson and Courtois are fine for cash if you want to take a clean sheet and a W home but they are expensive.  If you are going to use them on Draftkings, please pair them with at least one of their defenders.  If the clean sheet does come through, then you will want to make use of the available clean sheet bonuses.

If you read this article and you said “Wow, these stats are cool. I didn’t know that before.”, then know that they are only the tip of the iceberg and there is so much more inside our VIP team sheets.  Join us and take your game to the next level. See you in slack and good luck in your contests!
