Positional Power Rankings – NFL Season Long Advice

**Before we get started I just want to show you exactly what we have upcoming for the NFL season. Football is upon us and whether it’s season long fantasy football or DFS, the staff here at DFS Army has you covered. If this link doesn’t make you so excited that you want to run through a brick wall then I don’t know what will. Here is what is in store for the 2017 NFL season.

With each passing day the opening kickoff of the 2017 NFL regular season draws near. I have started to create my positional player power rankings for 12 team PPR leagues. This list is not based on what I believe their positional ADP will be, it is purely who I like the most at each position. You will find people being drafted entirely different than what I have them ranked.

*These rankings will be updated via our VIP members only Slack channel as the NFL landscape shifts under our feet on a daily basis. This list will continue to grow with more draft targets over the next few weeks. It will be used in conjunction with an auction tiers article that should publish on Wednesday, August 30th. • QB
    • Aaron Rodgers
    • Tom Brady
      • I think the loss of Blount will have a greater impact on the team than people are projecting. I can paint a picture that has Brady as the number one fantasy quarterback by the end of the season. He has a bevy of pass catching backs and this offense might not be as balanced as they were in 2016 when they threw 36.5 pass attempts per game (13th most in NFL).
    • Drew Brees
    • Russell Wilson
      • The lack of a running game could force the Seahawks to open up the offense and allow a healthy Russell Wilson to throw the ball all over the field.
    • Matt Ryan
    • Kirk Cousins
      • Chris Thompson, Jordan Reed,  and Josh Doctson should all be healthy at the beginning of the season which bodes well for Kirk. Terrelle Pryor is likely an upgrade for the entire offense over Desean Jackson as well. If this team stays healthy and continues to have a poor running game Kirk could easily lead the league in passing yards.
    • Ben Roethlisberger
      • He is the only person not named Drew Brees, Tom Brady, or Aaron Rodgers, who could end up as the number one fantasy quarterback. If Ben and Martavis Bryant are able to stay healthy and on the field together this offense will be virtually unstoppable.
    • Dak Prescott
      • Without Ezekiel Elliot, I believe Dak will be forced to grow as a quarterback. Ultimately it might be a great thing for his development. He has a tough schedule which might cap his ceiling but the sheer volume of passing attempts could overcome the difficult opponents.
    • Marcus Mariota
    • Cam Newton
    • Jameis Winston
    • Derek Carr
    • Andy Dalton
      • The Bengals really boosted their offense this off-season. Andy has my dark horse to jump into the elite eight quarterback ranking by the end of the season.
    • Andrew Luck
      • I likely won’t have a single share of Luck in redraft leagues.
    • Philip Rivers
    • Matthew Stafford
    • Carson Palmer
    • Eli Manning
  • RB
    • David Johnson
    • Le’Veon Bell
      • I am slightly concerned about early season soft tissue injuries because of not reporting to the team on time. That said, would be my number one overall player if it weren’t for the missed time.
    • LeSean McCoy
      • This offense could be an absolute disaster as a whole. LeSean will be fine either way and a few more receptions out of the backfield could be coming his way with the lack of options in Buffalo.
    • DeMarco Murray
    • Melvin Gordon
    • Devonta Freeman
    • Jordan Howard
    • Ezekiel Elliot
      • You’re going to have to jump on Darren McFadden earlier than I would like, especially with Alfred Morris also in the backfield. McFadden has also been quite injury prone his entire career. I think the savvy move would be to draft Elliot and grab Morris in the 11th or 12th round and let another owner think they drafted a starting running back for six games when they take McFadden.
    • Todd Gurley
      • I actually think this offense is going to be a little bit better this season. Sammy Watkins will alleviate the eight men in the box issue that Gurley often faces. Cooper Kupp has been a preseason stud and can line up anywhere on the field. Oh yeah, and no Jeff Fisher.
    • Leanord Fournette
    • Jay Ajayi
      • This offense might be a disaster and I am worried about how long it took Ajayi to return from his first concussion in mini-camp.
    • Isaiah Crowell
      • He continues to fall down my rankings as the three rookies after him on this list continue to look exceptional.
    • Dalvin Cook
      • After week three of the preseason, I likely will have Cook, Mixon, and McCaffrey all slotted in right behind Ezekiel Elliot. These guys are uber talented and have superb upside.
    • Joe Mixon
    • Lamar Miller
    • Carlos Hyde
    • Christian McCaffrey
    • Ty Montgomery
    • Spencer Ware
      • I know everyone is worried about a timeshare but I believe Kareem Hunt won’t become a nuisance unless Spencer Ware is failing as a running back. He is a fine upside RB2.
    • Bilal Powell
    • Adrian Peterson
    • Doug Martin
    • Duke Johnson
    • Tevin Coleman
    • Marshawn Lynch
    • Thomas Rawls
    • Rex Burkhead
    • Theo Reddick
    • C.J. Anderson
    • Paul Perkins
  • WR
    • Antonio Brown
      • Antonio averages two more catches and ten more yards per game with Martavis Bryant in the lineup. He’s my third overall player in PPR leagues right behind David Johnson and Le’Veon Bell.
    • Julio Jones
    • Odell Beckham Jr.
    • A.J. Green
      • Was the number one fantasy wide receiver during the first half of the season before getting injured in 2016.
    • Jordy Nelson
      • Another year removed from a devastating knee injury but also another year older. Efficiency and red zone touchdowns will be key for him to keep this ranking.
    • Michael Thomas
      • He should absolutely soak up targets for Drew Brees. An increase in 30 targets up to around 150 on the season could result in another 20 catches based on how efficient he was in his rookie season.
    • Dez Bryant
    • Mike Evans
    • Doug Baldwin
      • He could finish in the top 10 easily if Russell Wilson is allowed to open up the offense.
    • Amari Cooper
    • Keenan Allen
      • My favorite underrated fantasy commodity. Not a word is being spoken about him and he has incredible PPR upside.
    • Golden Tate
    • Demaryius Thomas
    • Brandin Cooks
    • Terrelle Pryor
    • DeAndre Hopkins
    • T.Y. Hilton
      • I won’t have a single ownership share of Hilton until we gain some clarity on Andrew Luck’s health.
    • Larry Fitzgerald
    • Michael Crabtree
    • Davante Adams
    • Allen Robinson
    • Tyreek Hill
    • Stefon Diggs
      • Could push for over 100 receptions this season.
    • Jamison Crowder
    • Martavis Bryant
      • If able to stay on the field should have no problem finishing ten spots higher.
    • Golden Tate
    • Julian Edelman
    • Emmanuel Sanders
    • Sammy Watkins
    • Jeremy Maclin
    • Cameron Meredith
    • Kelvin Benjamin
    • Pierre Garcon
    • Willie Snead
    • Eric Decker
    • Corey Coleman
    • John Brown
    • Robby Anderson
    • Zay Jones
    • Jarvis Landry
    • Randall Cobb
    • Corey Davis
    • Cooper Kupp
  • TE
    • Rob Gronkowski
    • Travis Kelce
      • If he’s able to score several more touchdowns this season and Gronk struggles to stay healthy, Travis could easily finish as the top tight end and by a wide margin.
    • Greg Olsen
      • We know his ceiling but you take him for his consistency and floor.
    • Jimmy Graham
      • I believe the Seahawks are going to struggle to run the ball this season. Jimmy Graham and the other Seattle pass catchers have a nice opportunity to explode if Russell Wilson is unleashed.
    • Tyler Eifert
      • Red zone phenom who could finish second to Rob Gronkowski in touchdowns.
    • Zach Ertz
    • Martellus Bennett
      • Aaron Rodgers is incredibly accurate and I believe Bennett high pointing the football on corner fades in the red zone is something we will see quite frequently this season. Yardage will be on the low end but double-digit touchdowns are within reach.
    • Delanie Walker
    • Kyle Rudolph
    • Jordan Reed
      • Much like Andrew Luck, I don’t believe he will be starting the season healthy and is a major injury risk. I prefer not to draft him as early as he’s going when I can have other Tight End’s with superb upside six or seven rounds later.
  • K
    • Stephen Gostkowski
    • Justin Tucker
    • Dan Bailey
    • Matt Bryant
    • Will Lutz
    • Brandon McManus
    • Blair Walsh
    • Mason Crosby
    • Dustin Hopkins
    • Chris Boswell
    • Sebastian Janikowski
    • Cairo Santos
  • DEF
    • Denver Broncos
    • Kansas City Chiefs
    • Seattle Seahawks
    • Houston Texans
    • Minnesota Vikings
    • Arizona Cardinals
    • New York Giants
    • Jacksonville Jaguars
    • New England Patriots
    • Pittsburgh Steelers
    • Baltimore Ravens
    • Carolina Panthers
