What a weekend we have ahead of us! 2 wonderful slates, 3 if you’re on fanduel. I’m gonna tell you of the bat that there will be no man united talk in this article aside from me saying right here, and only here, that you should get a piece of that.

This week we are going to do things a bit different. This slate is intense and if you want to take down a GPP, it’s gonna take a big number. So rather than evaluating the slate’s best matches, we are going to tease the ownership aspect by looking at a couple plays that are solid and likely to be high owned, as well a couple contrarian plays. Walk with me.
Saturday’s Plays
Chicharito, F, WHU – Newcastle’s defense has been terrible and they look to still be using a couple (serviceable) backups. Lanzini should be back and he will be tasked with making the offense go.
Tom Carroll, M, SWA – Crystal Palace is gonna be missing both players in the midfield who push the tempo. That should leave plenty of possession for swansea. Carroll will get plenty of chances for crosses and shots and will be on set pieces and corners.
Tomer Hemed, F, BHA – so Brighton sucks so far, but they are gonna get plenty of opportunity. Watford is going to play a back line that could be out of position a bit. If Hemed starts, I like his ability to exploit the watford defense — both in open play or during set pieces, of which there should be a decent number.
Javier Manquillo, D, NEW – In what I see as a back and forth battle, Javi should be able to get forward for a couple crosses and maybe even a shot or two. West Ham’s defense has been terrible. Yea they played Man United but they also gave up 3 to Southampton. 6 shots have been taken by defenders against West Ham through 2 road matches.
Between the Sticks
Here are my top 3 choices for Goalkeeper this week.
- Kasper Schmeichel, LEI – This looks like a typical visitors get bombarded type of matchup. Man U wins but Schmeichel should get a bunch of saves.
- Lössl, HUD – Southampton shoots a lot. Nuff said.
- Heurelho Gomes, WAT – Brighton may have sucked but they are accurate. Watford’s weakened defense should allow for more shots than Brighton have registered, thus far.
Remember that no matter who you choose to roster, you want to evaluate their floor, especially for your core guys. On DK, you want guys who shoot and guys who cross, even better if they do both. On Fanduel, you have so many ways to build but the most stable players are ones who are involved in the middle of the pitch tackling and intercepting, as well as defenders who make clearances. Only shots on goal count for Fanduel, so we want guys who shoot but it is a rather variable stat game to game. Lastly, and this is paramount, be available an hour before lock! You don’t want to spend the money only to find your high price midfielder is on the bench.
