Shark Autopsy: Dissecting the Mass Multi-Entry Strategies of top DFS Pros – St. Jude’s Classic

Welcome back to the 4th installment of the Shark Autopsy – Dissecting the top pros strategy where we look at how some of the best in the business attack high profile tournaments. This week we’ll look at the St. Jude Classic from last weekend to prep for our approach to the U.S Open. This week I’ll break down gosixersgo76 and his approach this week in the $33 PGA $350K UP AND DOWN.

Exposures

  • GSG76 took a very flat approach exposure-wise which is very like all pros that are in the top 10 on the RotoGrinder rankings.
  • 11 of 13 top exposures were heavy as compared to the field with 2 being the same as the field. What does this mean?
    • In General GSG76’s model focused on playing chalk heavily in this course. On weaker fields, it’s not the worst decision to make.

  • Only two players on the top 10 field % GSG76 was underweight on (Uihlein, Fowler, & Poulter).

What does all this mean?

Some weeks playing the chalk heavily can lead to great results. In weaker fields, especially in PGA, often times it’s a core of chalk and an outlier line up that end up winning the large contests. This week was no different. Harris English, at 4.99% ownership level and 89.5 DK points, was enough to vault the chalk heavy line up into first place. While RCB wasn’t exactly chalk at 13.59% owned by the field, he wasn’t the worst play you could make and was a solid pivot in that price range for 95 DK points.

Results

With $4,950 in and $65,460 out, GSG76 pulled a nice profit of $60,510 in this contest alone. When you look at his exposures and line up construction, it’s always important to note that solid line up construction with good players always has a chance to hit the nuts. Many of his top lineups could have easily been solid cash game choices as well.
