The Sway Bar: NASCAR DFS Fades and Values for Martinsville

We are on a mega hot streak after taking down some GPPs last week and I am feeling really good about this weekend so think about getting signed up and get exclusive access to our projection model, the domination station lineup optimizer, and most importantly, direct chat room access to some of the sharpest NASCAR minds in the industry. I will be on there all weekend updating everyone on my research.

Martinsville is a no nonsense track, so this is gonna be a no nonsense article. If you are looking for some more in depth research on Martinsville, check out my Competition Caution article from yesterday.

Top Plays

Kyle Busch – Kyle is tremendous at Martinsville, as we discussed yesterday. He is coming off a couple of serviceable performances to start the season, and has shown excellent single lap and 10 lap speed this weekend. He rolls off tenth and should be able to bull his way into the top five pretty quickly. I think he has potential to dominate this week, and is my pick to win.

Brad Keselowski – The Penske cars have all shown speed this weekend, and Brad in particular has been quick. His ten lap and single lap speeds are top five and he is really fantastic at Martinsville with two top fives in a row. The question is, starting fourth, can he dominate? I think so.

Joey Logano – For the same reason, I like Joey Logano too. He is as good as Kes here and has a great nose for fast laps.  He will roll off fifth on the inside line, so he should settle in top the top five very easily. He and Brad have the fastest cars starting in the top five – I think it is fair to say one of them could find the front very early.

Jimmie Johnson – I know, I know. He is overpriced and hasn’t looked good at all this weekend, as him and Earnhardt have complained of front end problems. But…its Jimmie Johnson and he is starting 17th. I’ll take Jimmie in a bad car over most of the field in a good car any day. Now I will admit – Jimmie is fadable, but I won’t be playing that strategy at all.
Fades

Now I am not telling you to fade Kyle Larson, but I will tell you I am mostly fading Kyle Larson. Yes – he has been AMAZING so far this year. He rolls off in the pole position and is in a great position to dominate. However, even he admitted that this is his worst track statistically, and the practice times back that up. Couple that with his $10,000 price tag, I am happy to fade him. Use your own model for fades though!
Values

AJ Allmendinger – Heavy braking tracks are AJs best friend, and rolling off 30th makes him as attractive of a play as there is this week. He has shown good single lap and ten lap speed and flirts with the top ten every time he comes here. VALUE OF THE WEEK.

Chris Buescher – Buescher has been uber disappointing this week, but he seems to have some speed this week (likely via the help of teammate Allmendinger). Buescher is starting 33rd and should at the very least work his way into the top 30. At best, I think he could compete for a top 15. He is priced down this week and could go under the radar as a sneaky GPP play.

David Ragan – I’m not usually one to tout David Ragan, but I actually don’t mind him in this spot. Rolling off 34th makes him a great differential potential, and he has shown pretty serviceable ten lap speed. He has performed here before, albeit in much better equipment, but if he can survive I think he is in store for a top 25 type of day.

Lastly, if you are looking for a super GPP play, I like Clint Bowyer at $8000. He has been fast in practice and has some momentum. It’s just a shame he is starting 8th…

As always my research is just getting started so I will be updating my thoughts on the DFS Army Slack Room right up until lock.
