Week four Kickers Corner

Kicker

DFS Army’s Kickers Corner

Welcome back all you great DFS lovers.  I hope you are having a great September because I have been loving it.  Football is back (we are already working on week 4), Fall TV has started to premier, and the temp out side didn’t get above 90 in what feels like years.  I live in El Paso, so hot is the norm, today was a great break.  Anyways you did not come here to read my diary, but if you want a copy send a self addressed envelope to me with a check for 9.99 and I will get it sent right out.

Review of Week 3

One thing you might have noticed is I am not including any kickers who are not on the “Main” slate for FD.  This is because that is all I currently play, so therefore I do not really research kickers from the other days.  If you have questions on a kicker from either Thursday/Monday let me know in Slack or Twitter and I will give you my opinion.

Recap

So looking at the numbers, I nailed the 2 highest scoring kickers, and then more or less tanked the rest.  Game flow really went against how I projected it would go in so many games.  Overall though I hope you did find some love with Hopkins.  Two things we might have learned from this week most importantly however is that both the Vikings and the Eagles looked good.  They may be defenses that we will want to target going forward each week, and unless on the road, they will probably be teams we want to avoid when it comes to kickers.

How I Start

Normally when it comes to my kicker picks there are teams who get ignored without me even doing a stitch of research.  Either because the kicker is not very good, or because the team is not worth the focus.  There are also teams who go on and off my radar.  An example of the first is Chicago, where they dumped their high priced kicker for a new leg.  The problem is both the kicker is unproven, and the team does not move the ball.  Therefore they are a simple fade for me.  The Rams are a prime example of the second example.  Their kicker can kick from distance, but they just are so random on when they move the ball.

Player to Fade

For now though we are going to add Boswell to our list of kickers to watch, but fade.  He will always have the ability to go off, but the problem is Pit has either moved the ball too well or not well enough.  The only saving grace we have had on him, is he is actually getting extra points when the team does score.

For the rest of the players let us look into game flow, and pick the strongest candidates. If you are not sure the best way to find game flow, I would use ffootballgeek’s Vegas Lines, which you will be able to find right “here.”

I also was not able to get a pod out last week, but if you check back soon, I will have the week 4 pod right “here”

Quick How to Pick a Kicker

  • Pick kickers on teams who are favored to win or be in close high scoring games.
  • Pick kickers who have the ability to kick with high accuracy from long ranges.
  • Pick kickers who are in domes or where weather is not an issue.
  • Worry about price last, focus on ability to score points first.
