Baltimore Orioles Wade Miley
- Really hasn’t gone well for Miley since coming to Baltimore, especially in his last two starts: 6 IP, 14 H, 12 ER, 6 K combined against the Astros and Giants
- RHBs have been popping off against Miley for a .299 AVG w/ 18 HRs – .504 SLG/.856 OPS
- A lot of the Nats have excellent BVP numbers against Miley – also have to think the Nats will come out hot tonight and avenge losses in their previous two games against the O’s – Absolutely love Wilson Ramos, Anthony Rendon and Jayson Werth
- Ryan Zimmerman, especially, has great numbers against Miley
Washington Nationals Tanner Roark
- Five straight quality starts for Roark, but the strikeouts worry me…not to mention the fact that the Orioles have been great against RHPs
- He’s held LHBs in check to the tune of a .204 AVG this season – that’s ok for the Birds since they have so many RHBs
- Orioles do own the highest ISO against RHPs this season – give some consideration to their big boppers
Los Angeles Angels Matt Shoemaker
- Typically, have no interest in The Maker of Shoes when he is on the road, tonight is no different against one of MLB’s most dangerous offenses … has taken the loss in four straight road starts, five of last six as well
- Giving the Angels innings has never been a problem for Shoemaker, and maybe you could attribute that to all these hits he gives up – hasn’t given up a HR in eight of his last 11 starts
- RHBs have slightly better numbers against Shoemaker – Encarnacion has homered against him in the past, as has Saunders (who homered last night) – Tulo, Donaldson and Martin are all interesting as well
Toronto Blue Jays Marco Estrada
- Extreme flyball pitcher that shouldn’t run into too much trouble tonight, but don’t expect too many strikeouts
- Struggled somewhat in his last handful of starts, aside from a gem in Houston
- Not many splits or BVP history to look at
Texas Rangers Yu Darvish
- Love this matchup for Darvish against a weak team like the Reds – However, we have seen them go toe-to-toe with some elite pitchers lately (see: Jose Fernandez in Cincy last week)
- Darvish has started to go deeper into games, thus, improving the strikeout totals as well
Cincinnati Reds Tim Adleman
- Only has five starts this season, but the last four Adelman hasn’t made it past the fifth inning
- However, his last was against the Dodgers and he kept them scoreless
- Rangers bats disappointed everyone last night, but I called it and said that something was fishy about their bargain bin prices
- LHBs are hitting .304 against Adelman in a small sample size, but Ian Desmond is my favorite play of them all tonight, especially on FD2
Kansas City Royals Dillon Gee
- Guy that gets a bad rap, admittedly by me, but he hasn’t been absolutely terrible of late
- Martin Prado has a great history against Gee, but don’t you dare expect big power numbers
Miami Marlins Jose Fernandez
- Got shellacked bad in Cincinnati last start – settle down, everyone…things will be OK
- At home in Marlins Park, he’s a God … 9-2, 2.07 ERA with 119 Ks in 82.2 IP
Boston Red Sox Rick Porcello
- Has a great chance to rack up the points against this swing-and-miss happy Rays team
- Porcello has racked up at least 39 FDP in 10 of his last 12 starts
- 3-0 against TB this season with a 2.25 ERA and 22 Ks in 20 IP
Tampa Bay Rays Matt Andriese
- Andriese had a solid start to this season, but has allowed 21 hits and 14 ER in his last 15 IP
- 0-3 in August, 7.11 ERA with seven HRs allowed (five prior to August)
- The current Red Sox roster is 4-for-30 against Andriese, but I can see those numbers improving drastically tonight – RHBs have slightly better numbers, but it may be time for Ortiz to have another one of those massive games tonight
Philadelphia Phillies Jerad Eickhoff
- Usually no interest in Eickhoff on the road, but I could see the reasoning on a two-pitcher site against the White Sox – Does have strikeout potential and could get the W against Shields
- Jose Abreu has homered in three straight games … I also have interest in Adam Eaton and Melky Cabrera
Chicago White Sox James Shields
- The Phils are drastically underpriced on FanDuel, but have no such similarities on DraftKings where they are among some of the most expensive – This leads me to believe they’ll be worth rostering on FD
- Cesar Hernandez, Odubel Herrera, Maikel Franco and Ryan Howard make up the top four hitters in the lineup tonight … All of them are worth a look
- After having some success mid-season, Shields has gone back to his old ways…and that’s not a good thing
Detroit Tigers Matt Boyd
- Without a doubt, one of the main pitchers that we should all be targeting tonight
- Boyd has severe home/road splits
- Home: 3-1, 2.82 ERA – 38.1 IP, 29 H/16 BB – .207 AVG
- Road: 1-1, 5.34 ERA – 30.1 IP, 32 H/ BB – .264 AVG
- Brian Dozier is very expensive tonight, but Miguel Sano is a way to get much cheaper exposure to the Twins
Minnesota Twins Tyler Duffey
- 67 ERA at home for Duffey, 13 HRs allowed in 59.1 IP, 79 H and 11 BB as well
- RHBs are crushing him for a .315 AVG, 14 HRs – .367 OBP/.579 SLG/.946 OPS – all the Tigers big boppers are in play
New York Mets Jacob deGrom
St. Louis Cardinals Carlos Martinez
- The matchup between these two starters is TOO good to have one of them on FanDuel – I wouldn’t mind going with one of them on a two-pitcher site, but that’s up to you … It’s also interesting to note that Martinez is pitching on six days rest … DeGrom also got roughed up by a struggling Giants team last time out
- Asdrubal Cabrera was the one value play that stuck out to me the most on each site, but I also wouldn’t mind taking a shot on Curtis Granderson, especially on FD2 at his discounted price of $6800
Atlanta Braves Julio Teheran
Arizona Diamondbacks Zack Greinke
- The law of averages would have us believe that we’re in for a pitcher’s duel this evening after two-straight slugfests, and I would have to agree with the law
- Greinke is at discounted price across the industry going against one of the worst teams in MLB – The Braves just got to pick on two very weak pitchers the last two nights and they may be all swung out
San Francisco Giants Johnny Cueto
- Not a fan of Cueto tonight against these red-hot bats of the Dodgers, who are generously priced on FanDuel … Besides Corey Seager ($3900) and Justin Turner ($3300), the rest of them are at $3000 or lower
Los Angeles Dodgers Rich Hill
- First start off the DL, last one was actually with the A’s on July 7th – 6 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 10 K (57 FDP)
- Giants are generally a tough team to strike out, but Hill will have the platoon advantage against many of the Giants best hitters
